Can't believe someone mentioned it. I was thinking the same thing. Who in the hell saw that coming when the killer turned around at the end?

Good one! Surprisingly I don't think anyone has mentioned Gran Torino yet.

So I finally get around to watching this and I am not normally the one to figure out what is going on, but I saw this coming a mile away. Once the school scene happens it made sense but I knew it before then.

Was it all close captioned? I haven't seen it yet but Spielberg is directing a remake with Will Smith.

I watched an english dubbed version. I have to say that with what the movie involves its hard to imagine Will Smith and Spielberg making this without changes. The subject matter isnt somthing that these two normally deal with.

I really looked forward to this movie, and I did enjoy it. However, the twist came too early, and I cold see it coming.

Not to mention, this movie finally convinced me that M. Night is a hack. So much in the movie made absolutely no logical sense.

I really liked Frailty. That was a mind frick twist.

Primal fear. Top notch twist.

Sixth Sense does not hold the same spot for me because some a-hole blabbed the twist.

Fight Club. Did not see it coming.

Old school, I would go with Planet of the Apes and Empire Strikes Back. Empire was just an insane mind frick. Back in the day before everything was spoilered to death, that twist was just sick.

No Way out was another good twist that I did not see coming.

Many people hate it, but I love the twist to Vanilla Sky. Don't realize you are watching a sci-fi flick til the last scene.

Arlington Road is one of the most evil twists. Just a cruel ending.

Of course Usual Suspects.

Righteous Kill should not be mentioned with ANY of the movies on here. I figured the twist for Righteous Kill from the commercials.

The one that really sticks with me the most is Arlington Road. That was just such a hard kick to the testicles. Hollywood doesn't often go with endings like that, so it was a shock.

Aw come on....how could you not see a gay dance number with a fat gay director. I could see that coming from a mile away.

VOR, I wouldn't say he is a hack. He has made a few really good movies. Sometimes, however, his twist is so obvious or comes too early in the movie that it takes so much suspense out of the movie...

Like what? We have communes in this country that live within a secure world. Not much of the outside gets through. The generations born within these social-communes do not live with the knowledge of the outside world, only what their elders tell them. Is this what you were referring to? If not, what else?

Also, it is a story, a fictional story--a movie.

M Knight is not a hack.

Sixth Sense is a great movie.

I love unbreakable. I can see people not liking it, but I love the real world super hero story.

Signs had some truly spooky scenes. I love when Phoenix in the closet watches the first sighting of the alien. Yes the ending was absurd, but not for the reason most people complain. The aliens may have not been able to find any other planet with life on it. I just thought they looked ridiculously unadvanced for a race with Space travel.

I like the fairy tale story of Lady in the Water, but once again, I can see why people hate it, but I don't.

The Village was more of a Twilight Zone episode than a movie. Too easy to figure out the twist.

The Happening was bad in every possible way. It seemed like it was made by a first time director. Even if you did not like his previous movies, they were technically sound with good acting.

The story was terrible, the direction was terrible, and the acting was really bad.

The Happening is the low watermark. It could have been much better, if he really had gone just for the horror angle with lots more kills and a longer time frame for scientists to figure out what was going on. Also maybe make the trees release a visible pollen. It could have been so much better, instead it was a very poorly done episode of Tales From The Darkside.

I agree with almost everything you said. I do not think "The Happening" was the low mark, however. I thought "The Lady in the Water" was.

How? The acting in The Happening was just terrible. The story was terrible. The directing was terrible. Everything about the Happening was terrible.

I can see disliking the fairy tale aspect of Lady, but the acting and direction were fine.

The Happening is one of the worst films ever made by a competent writer / director.
