Because Gus wanted Lalo back in Mexico where he could kill him. While Lalo was North of the border it was Gus' responsibility to protect him. Once Lalo is in Mexico, Gus could claim ignorance.

Just noticed on the season 6 poster It appears to be Gene putting the Saul jacket back on. He has the Gene mustache and look.

Not sure how it's going to play out but I'm fired up. The BB finale is arguably the best of all time. Gonna be hard to top that one.

Upon a rewatch, I noticed that they have had a few funny details, like the guy that Mike steals his employee badge looks awfully similar to Walt from a glance.
I feel like Kim and Lalo are going to take each other out.

I read that this will be the first season that doesn’t begin with a Gene scene. That pretty much confirms that the second half of this season will likely have a good bit of Gene built into the story

the only way these two characters die is if it's after the BB timeline. Lalo is referenced and assumed alive during the span of BB. see the desert scene with jesse/walt with saul.

Lalo may be alive but I wouldn’t entirely base it on Saul. Saul may not know if Lalo is really alive or not. He could be assuming it. If he hasn’t seen him, the only way he’d know if somebody killed him is if someone told him. But maybe they don’t care to tell him or they don’t want him to know.

True, but Gus seems to belive that Lalo is dead in BB. Telling Hector the Salamanca name dies with him.

Im rewatching S5 now to remember before Monday. I forgot how great a character Victor was. Very little screen time, says very little but a soldier.
I just watched the episode where he goes into Nacho dad shop while they are playing cards. The little smile and smirk he gives while looking back at the car Nacho is in.
Then gets back in the car and says "Your pops is a nice guy"
Cold blooded what Gus ends up doing to him in BB.

gus and saul will find out lalo survived the compound raid. at some later point lalo will be killed and gus will know of it to say the salamanca name is dead.
It could be before or after saul thought lalo sent kidnappers. saul may not have been informed that lalo was successfully killed or lalo is alive at the time of the kidnapping but dies some time later offscreen during BB.
nacho could already be dead and still be blamed for betraying lalo when saul thinks lalo kidnapped him.
