Agree. Also, Gene's reference to Walter. That was a big screwup by him to me to even mention it. I think she connects the dots somehow.

Caught up with the thread, and I feel the same as most in here. Good, entertaining episode, but also one that felt misplaced and wasted time that didn't need wasting.

But as others have also said, I have the utmost faith in VG/PG that the show will end satisfactorily. And admittedly it was nice to see ole Slippin' Jimmy pull one of his scams again (knowing that in this future timeline it hasn't happened in years). I'm interested to see what happens next because a) Jimmy can never truly let go of the Saul/SJ persona, and b) the actual character himself definitely does not deserve a happy ending. So at least this episode opens the last few up to that.

Any prosecutorial body is going to look the other way on such a poo-butt heist like Jeffie's if they can bring in the final pieces of the BB puzzle.

Agreed. The blackmail isn’t really that clean in my book.

the exposure to the Carol Burnett character seems risky and unnecessary, I understand the need for the implied threat.

But Saul Goodman knows how to weigh the odds and the risk factors. It’s not the ideal situation, but he has to risk further exposure if he wants to end the threat of Jeff making him and informing.

For all Gene knew, one of the security mall cops might have said “Hey, you sure look and sound like that Saul Goodman guy!”

Gene had no choice at that point.

But it was an acceptable risk. I mean, some folks follow it closer than me, but I think the vast majority of Americans are like me. I have no idea what any of the FBI’s ten most wanted look or sound like.

This final season is just limping along. The first episode of the second half was top notch stuff but this last episode..why drop that now? That should’ve been a first part of the season episode.Good episode but terrible timing.

Was cracking up at the Bo mention

Taking 3 coats out of the middle of the rack, or 3 shirts out of 3 big stacks is not noticeable but they're not gonna notice 2 air jordans for you when you steal 3 of like 5 pairs from the display stand until they run inventory? Come on, son.

I don't think, even with the better actor, the character would've been portrayed much differently.

It's weird. I love the original actor's character.

LINK

I would have liked to have seen how this actor would have done with the same storyline.

Yeah that actor was definitely more sleazy and would’ve worked better.

I thought the new Jeffie looked enough like the old actor I wouldn't have remembered him clearly enough to know it had been changed if I hadn't seen it before. Maybe that's why his acting seemed weak...they rolled with the best choice they had.

I also liked but didn't love the episode. I'm also holding off final thoughts until I see how it plays out. It could go down as a really good "filler" episode misplaced at the end of the series or set off a lot of new stuff. I personally think this just showed he's still got it and by the way he looked at that shirt and tie that he still wants it. I really though he was going to throw the jacket over his shoulder and you would start to get some color in the episode showing Saul may be coming back.

Carol Burnett could just be a one off. I thought I read that BB and BCS are two of her favorite shows and she lives in Albuquerque where they film so it's very easy to give her an extended cameo that has some meaning. She could also play a bigger part in the end. One thing I really like about this team is they surprise me all of the time, but rarely does it feel cheap or not earned.

Who was the new player in the episode description? Was it just Saul coming back through Gene? I doubt Jeff or his mom count but I guess they could. I really thought it was Walt and Jessie based on the spoiler they would show up only for it to be a red herring.

My only concern is there isn't much in the way of current story lines that need to be wrapped up over 3 episodes. So it's either going to be more episodes like this or they'll introduce some new conflicts. After a decade plus watching this I'm not too worried I'll be satisfied. Even this very slow episode was very well planned out and executed. Somebody said it well...this would have been a great story to break out into the episode opens through the season unless they have something else planned. It also might be a nice break after everything pre Saul Goodman has concluded or fallen apart before another wild ride to the finish.

I mean is it not obviously Jeff? Saul gives him that speech about how he's not "in the game", he's on the sidelines begging to get in but he's not, but in exchange for his silence ol' Saul will show him the game and give him the thrill. Then they pull the heist.

I bet there's hundreds of people in Omaha that know Alexander Shunnarah's mug. Not saying Saul has as many commercials or billboards up, but he certainly isn't a normal 10 Most Wanted.

I thought the final seen was going to be him going into the store and asking if they had the coat in a certain size so they would realize it was missing and start digging… basically turning on those two for some larger reason, but he got distracted by the tie that reminded him of his Saul days and he changed his mind, new plan.

But seems it was what it is on its face.

I think that is key. I dont think Carol's character will be the one to make a connection though. Not sure if it will be Jeff, but that would make the most sense.

There definitely has to be some kind of connection with Jeff "getting in to some trouble" in ABQ & that Gene mentioned Walter/Heisenberg to him. Both of those things stood out to me in this episode and seem like they might come up again.

Jeff's friends in ABQ were Badger and Skinny Pete. He knows Saul from representing Badger.

Just throwing it at the wall, see if it sticks. But a Badger/Skinny Pete cameo would be great.
