It’s in black and white and he has the Gene stache so just assuming lol.

That’s makes sense about him giving a nod to his past. I think the big mystery is what brings him back or out of hiding. Maybe Walt’s still alive and they’ll announce a movie at the end. ??

Damn dude . Now that I've had time to digest it, I enjoyed the episode too. At first I was let down because of the explosiveness of the previous few, but they really have left themselves an open canvas. I have confidence the last 3 will be fantastic.

The shirt is clearly symbolic of Saul and the flashy persona, so I took it as him looking in the miror and fondly reminiscing about it, but ultimatley he's Gene that works at cinnabon so doesn't really have a need for it so he hung it up. Just a "that was fun, I miss that part of my life. But it's in the past" kinda thought.

I have no idea where these last three episodes are heading so I’m just speculating.

I wouldn’t be surprised with no major fireworks in the Gene-post-BB sector.

Gene told the vac guy he’d take care of it and he did. One more liberating chance to be Saul/Slippin’ Jimmy.

Hanging those flashy clothes on the rack means he walks away permanently from that life and lives out a shitty (to him) life as a retail employee.

And that’s as close to a “happy ending” as good ole Jimmy McGill gets.

Saul is party to (or at least adjacent to) a vast money laundering and drug manufacturing/distribution ring. Murders. Arson. Plane crashes. Nazis. Any prosecutorial body is going to look the other way on such a poo-butt heist like Jeffie's if they can bring in the final pieces of the BB puzzle.

But would a naive nobody like Jeff know that and really want to gamble playing informant knowing he’s facing 30 years in prison?

Episode wasn't bad or boring, but I feel like it really didn't belong
i dunno. it kinda felt like the bridge to the Gene universe. Setting up a bit more about his current life so the final 3 eps can move forward on that timeline.

Saul still has waaaaaaaaaaay more to lose than Jeffie and the accomplice.

For 2 little small town punks, one that lives at home with mom, I think the threat of being put away for 40 years is a pretty big threat

the viewer knows that but do they? Once walter white's story wraps up the news would talk abotu that a while but would saul even really be mentioend? Sure the FBI and law enforcement that is onto his involvmenet would be concerned but a local cab driver who only watches the news, would he really know?

I was joking of course about the movie but how funny would it be if Walt and Jesse appeared….but in black & white seeking out Gene.

It was bad casting for that guy's role. Should have found another actor.

I definitely preferred the prior actor for the cab driver but that character's role was still going to be the same regardless of who was playing him. The whole point of the episode was Gene digging deep and becoming Jimmy/Saul again to take care of a problem. The power dynamic shift was there to show he can still get out of tight jams. Once Gene hung up on the vacuum guy, he flipped the switch.

I don't think, even with the better actor, the character would've been portrayed much differently.

Carol Burnett is a legend, it seems strange that they would get her on the show and only use her for one episode. They made a point of showing how ornery she is. I wonder if she ends up being the one to see a news story and then turn Saul in?

In the scene with the other actor, Gene also seemed like a meek, terrified pussy, but in this episode he’s in charge. Jeff was a poser. He was acting like a tough guy, and the next thing he knows, here’s Saul Goodman in his house with his mom. He knew right there he was in over his head. Saul is a player in the game. Jeff is not.

Jeff wasn't working with anyone from ABQ, correct? He was just some guy who had trouble in ABQ then moved back in with his mom in Omaha?

I think there is more to that story of Jeff "getting in trouble in ABQ". Not sure if it's a SG/BB reference, but I'm sure it will come back up.

If there is more to Jeff's story in ABQ, then we will see more Carol.

I suppose that's where I have Jeffie pegged as someone familiar with the legal system. He has to know that Saul is a way bigger fish for the feds than a pair of tools that stole some sneakers.

So it was a bigger play. Protects him from being revealed. This show is so good.

I think Saul/Jimmy gets his mojo back. He's confident again. May lead to doing something else.

Sure, but even people not associated with a criminal element know that people get walks all the time for turning over a bigger target.

Well, Jeffie knows Gene to be Saul. You could attach that to his time spent in ABQ and seeing the commercials. As far as Jeffie's knowledge that Gene/Saul is a wanted man, maybe I assumed too much. Maybe I misremembered Gene and Jeffie's first interaction. Did Jeffie allude to not just recognizing Saul, but also referencing his criminal involvement?

If it's just the former, then I remembered wrong. If it's the latter, then Jeffie has to know (as anyone should know) that Saul is a far more tantalizing treat to prosecutors than a goofy burglar.

I should also note that VG and company are way better than I am at storytelling and creativity. I just think that when comparing swords of Damocles, the one over Saul's head is far more imposing than the one over Jeffie's.

I'm probably thinking about this too much.

the exposure to the Carol Burnett character seems risky and unnecessary, I understand the need for the implied threat. But she's not gonnna forget him or let go of him , she WANTS her son to have a good influence ( thinking that is Jimmy) is a mistake others have made

A zombie Walt, that connects BB with the Walking Dead.

Vince Gilligan has stated he loves the BB->WD theory. :)
