Nah. It wasn’t awful but it had no business being in the last half-season. Every episode in season 5B of Breaking Bad was far better.

I liked the episode and it was good to see slippin’ Jimmy possibly for the last time. I don’t love the placement of it knowing that was one of four episodes left in this remarkable universe. However, I leave my trust with the show runners and writers as they can make the next three episodes feel like finales themselves.

Another problem I had with this episode is the replacement actor just wasn't very good
The first actor was menacing in the prior appearance and now this guy seemed weak and borderline special needs.

It should also be mentioned that letting the mall get robbed because you were distracted by a Cinnabon is the most Jerry Gergich thing ever.

I liked how during the setup you kept seeing the guy on the floor cleaning machine and the nod from Jimmy, then on the night of the robbery he’s called to buff the floor of the department store. The whole time you’re expecting Jeffie to get caught or see this guy, then out of nowhere he slips.
Jimmy has to ad lib his sob story, proving to himself he still has it even more so than planning the robbery, and ultimately blackmailing the two guys into keeping his cover in tact.
You get to see that overall Jimmy still can go deep into a con to get what he wants, but see also the lengths that he’ll go to in order to remain anonymous.
I feel like else something will happen to blow that all up and blow his cover where he has to go back to Saul.

This is what I'm thinking as well.
I doubt Walt and Jessie physically appear.

I think this was kind of the point of this episode, too. Vince letting us know we don’t have it figured out.
Totally. I sort of appreciated this episode since it expanded upon the short parts at the beginning of the previous episodes where Jimmy is in his new life managing a Cinnabon. It wasn't super eventful but I am sure it will add up in the grand scheme of things.

Exactly.... he seemed more like an annoying little brother than the sinister character he was when the other actor played him

yeah, I didn't like his performance at all. I did enjoy Gene a lot tho.
I know it was said on the last page, but I definitely was expecting something to be in color at the end whether the ring or the shirt and tie. Was a little disappointed in that but I think this was a solid episode outside of the cab driver.

I guess I'm one of the oddballs here but I thoroughly enjoyed the episodes. I get maybe not loving but saying it sucks or that it's on par wiht Fly is just crazy to me. I don't have much that hasn't already been said but:
-People complaining it was slow. The entire first half of the entire show of Better CAll Saul was slow as molasses for multiple seasons. I didn't find this episode to be particularly slow at all. Just because there wasn't a death doesn't automaticalyl make it slow
-Finally, at long last, after 6 seasons, we get an extended look at Gene. Isn't this what we all wanted, and now we're complaning? Seasons 1-5 we got a brief snippet of gene at the beginning of a season then nothing else. We didn't even start season 6 with gene. Now we get a complete Gene episode. I was pumped!
-The intro!!! Saul's worn out VHS of his commercials has faded more and more with each new season introduction as he keeps wearing it out. And now he's finally watched it so much that it bit the dust. Was not expecting that.
-We get another classic BCS grift. They've sure pulled some great ones over this series and this was another. When saul was walking paces in the mall then the scene instantly cut to him walking those same steps in the field for the store setup it caught my breath for a second ha. Awesome transition scene there.
-the pump fake with the floor cleaner. When manager sees the scuff and asks him to fix I thought surely that was going to break the nightly routine and he'd be in the store while dude is robbing it. Only to fake us out by having him slip instead. That one got me.
-And finally, the loose ends. People are saying "there's only 3 episodes left, I don't know why they put this episode here" but as mentioned it's wrapped up an outstanding issue. Currently we have:
-Gus's bcs arc is done
-lalo/the salamancas/ mike are both done with bcs
-the lab story is done
-Howard, and actually the entire HHM company itself, is wrapped up
-the only guy thus far that has identified gene in omaha as his true self has now been dealt with and that story is complete
There really isn't A TON that's left to be tied up, and damn sure not so much that can't be done in 3 episodes. This episode gave us a heavy helping of gene, it tied up an important loose end, and gave us another great heist to boot. Not sure what else you'd want from the episode short of another BB cameo.

Maybe this was obvious, but Jeff wasn't working with anyone from ABQ, correct? He was just some guy who had trouble in ABQ then moved back in with his mom in Omaha? He knew of Saul because of the commercials and I assume was aware that the feds are looking for him. Was his threat of placing a phone call about calling the feds?

I believe so. Just an unfortunate coincidence for saul.

Marion said “Jeff fell in with some bad people in Albuquerque.”
I wonder if he was some low-level street hood in the Walter White and/or Gus Fring empires?

It was bad casting for that guy's role. Should have found another actor.

Possible Spoilers
I really enjoyed the episode as well. Was surprised at it but nice to see another con from Jimmy. I’m trying to figure out why he left the shirt at the end. Is it because he is done being Saul and has tied up a loose end? Something has to get him caught or recognized again.
My prediction is he ends up with lung cancer similar to Walt. The picture for the finale is him in a hospital gown getting a chest X-ray. Would make sense with all the years of smoking and a correlation to Walt in the beginning. Maybe this diagnosis brings him to seek out Kim. Just thinking off the wall here.

The shirt is clearly symbolic of Saul and the flashy persona, so I took it as him looking in the miror and fondly reminiscing about it, but ultimatley he's Gene that works at cinnabon so doesn't really have a need for it so he hung it up. Just a "that was fun, I miss that part of my life. But it's in the past" kinda thought.

If true, then Gene is probably not thinking about Kim either. She's simply part of his past that he has discarded.

Are we sure that wasn't an IRL of Bob Odenkirk?

So it was a bigger play. Protects him from being revealed. This show is so good.
Saul still has waaaaaaaaaaay more to lose than Jeffie and the accomplice.
Blackmail only works if the action is so heinous that it would destroy the other party.
Saul is party to (or at least adjacent to) a vast money laundering and drug manufacturing/distribution ring. Murders. Arson. Plane crashes. Nazis.
Any prosecutorial body is going to look the other way on such a poo-butt heist like Jeffie's if they can bring in the final pieces of the BB puzzle.
