He's a true leading man, which makes the left hate him. Rare in Hollywood these days. He was best as Star Lord. I don't blame him for taking the big money rolls. I would have done the same but staid single to go on a Pete Davidson type tear.

Great actor in my opinion and seems very likeable as a person.

Have also heard he is very friendly and down to earth on set with the film crew and such.

Pretty good comparison. Tatum is a good enough actor. He's also an excellent dancer and that opens him up to more opportunities.

Pratt is also a good enough actor. He's physically imposing in an industry where most of the professionals are fairly slight of frame.

Camera angles can do a lot, but it certainly helps if you need an action hero and this guy is actually 6'2".

Rogan has said he met him 2 or 3 different times mostly in unscripted, or unexpected situations and says he is without a doubt the nicest guy he knows in hollywood and is real AF.

it is absolutely dumb, but i've always loved his generational award acceptance speech. perfect balance of stupid humor, a call to be better men and women, and presenting the gospel.

the Jesus stuff may not be this board's cup of tea, but i think he's one of the few people that is absolutely grateful for what he has.

I feel like he’s a good actor, but wastes his talent on shite movies within the Marvel and Jurassic series.

His conservativism means that he's never going to get accolades from lefty Hollywood. But he is a box office draw, so why not get paid making bug budget films?

Yeah. I saw someone on this board post it a few years back and it was like a mindblown moment. He would’ve crushed it.

Instead we’ve got another shitty Indiana Jones coming out.

I'll always be a fan. Dude sticks to his guns with his beliefs, and occasionally that works against him. With that being said, Hollywood tried really hard to make him an A list star and that hasn't worked because he picks terrible roles, like the upcoming Cowboy Ninja Viking movie or Super Mario Bros. I'd love to see him in more dramatic roles

He’s not getting Oscar nods but he’s the definition of an A list star to me.

Elitist don’t like him but I think audiences do just fine.

I enjoyed Terminal List, but he just doesn’t nail brooding or serious. He’s best cast as action with a decent sense of humor but not beating you over the head with it and being slapstick the whole time.

I just finished watching The Peripheral on Amazon, and thought Jack Reynor (the guy who played Burton Fisher, the brother), would be the perfect budget-version if you wanted to make a Chris Pratt action movie without Pratt. He looks similar, and seemed to have a lot of the same mannerisms. Looked like he could play the same playful, joking and charming dude who suddenly has to shoot a few bad guys.

I found myself rooting for Burton to survive, because I didn't want "the Chris Pratt dude" to get killed

Yes, but I thought Tatum was perfect in Dog. Not sure Pratt could have been as poignant in that role.

Say what? He's 100% an A list star.

Marvel shite
Jurassic World shite
Lego movie shite

Those are MONSTROUS franchises. And he's the face of them (except Marvel, but he's definitely a big part of it).

Is he?

Remove the marvel films - which are ensembles anyway - and what are the good to great roles he’s had as a leading man?

Why would we take away the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, especially the first two? Star Lord was the obvious lead.

I guess. I see them as ensembles, but include them if you like.

Is he still a “true leading man”?

I like Chris Pratt and feel like he’s a good dude, but he’s just not particularly great outside of roles that lean on comedy, which is fine -he’s great in those - but it limits him imo.

My first thought on Chris Pratt is “yum”. But that’s just me…

I loved him as Star Lord and really think he nailed it. Jurassic etc. not so much, but not because of him. But honestly, he knows there are things he may not get because of his views, so why not capitalize where he can?

Terminal List was good and he had proper gravitas and intensity, but I just saw Chris Pratt being intense…not the character. That is probably my own issue.

I, too, think he would be a great Indiana Jones!

He is not Indiana Jones material. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
