The Collector is more likely to get the Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos will get it from him.

Just got out as well, great MCU flick, certainly top tier with Winter Soldier, Avengers, and GotG 1/2.

1. The movie felt like an extension of Dr Strange, which dove into the mid 60s to mid-70s range of Marvel with both a grandiose and wacky take on everything and it worked. That's where Marvel is at its best, drowning itself in the best parts of the comics by way of more modern stories (Sakaar and Ragnarok). Different strokes, so it isn't surprising that some may find it funny, but the setting and costumes require an alternative approach than trying to play it straight.

2. On the idea of consequences - Surtur is released, Odin is dead and Asgard is destroyed? Look, in the comics, you will never see REAL, long lasting consequences for a hero. Yeah, he lost an eye and no one cares, because hero. It's that simple. There's no chance, at least until Infinity War, for real consequences for Thor himself. He's going to live, and so will Loki, Banner, etc. But at least they do give some weight with things they can do. That's just a part of comics and any film that plays up what they are is going to run with that. And that's ok.

3. I do like that they pulled from a few different strands here. Gave us a rag tag group of heroes, and expanded the world. Not everybody hit the mark (Valkyrie is slightly weak. Not bad, not great), but there was a lot of chemistry from the cast so that helped.

4. Korg for president?

5. I'm glad they've balanced Loki out. The place he occupies now, slightly heroic but still an opportunist, is probably where he's been his best. Would love to see him in the Thanos fight. Hiddelston is also great.

6. Hemsworth is slowly becoming the 2nd best Avenger behind Cap. He's been developed well and he owns the character.

7. Beta Ray Bill - a bust and that's it? Boooooooo.

8. I do think that this movie had a different vibe, and I liked it. Waititi did a great job bringing it all together.

Just got back from the film. Once again, I came away disappointed. All the jokes seemed ham fisted and Thor's sudden personality change was definitely out of left field and not earned in the current continuity. The villain was bland and so was the story. The only thing that saved me from disliking the film was the third act.

Aside from Spider-Man: Homecoming, I have been most underwhelmed by Phase Three of the MCU.

Final Grade: C+

i'd say that it was top 3 in impact of the entire MCU

Easily. I'll wait a while for subsequent viewings to ensure it holds up, but right now, it's right up there with Iron Man and definitely over Winter Soldier.

This was a fun movie and good ride, but it doesn't even sniff their jocks in terms of emotional impact for the character. Iron Man was energizing, taut, and Tony Stark had HUGE personal growth. Winter Soldier affixed Cap as the unmovable good guy even in the face of everyone saying to stand down. This movie was fun and entertaining, the best showing for Thor, but saying top 3 is pushing it through much better MCU offerings. But to each their own I suppose. I felt Hulk had the most emotional resonance of anyone.

Justice League could be 5% and you'll be the first one on here saying how misunderstood it was

To each their own, it boggles my mind why some continue to go see these movies even though they seem to hate them all.
To me, there hasn’t been an even mediocre MCU film since Thor 2. They’ve all been good and fun movies unless you’re nitpicking. Not every comic movie needs to be The Dark Knight. The Marvel movies are meant to be fun and not taken too seriously...as a comic generally should be.

Ragnarok was entertaining, funny, and had some solid battles. It stands near the top of phase 3 which have all been very good to great movies. The stakes seemed more real in this one with the deaths, destruction of Asgard and Mjolnir, and displacement of the citizens. Easily was the best of the Thor movies (other two are in my bottom tier of Marvel films) and Hela was a good, but not great villain...dare I say that she might not quite be done yet? Of course Korg and Goldblum were awesome (would love to see some scenes with Grandmaster and Collector).

One thing I didn’t see noted...I thought Hulk’s emotional journey was the best and was unexpected. I believe Ruffalo mentioned a while back that Ragnarok would start an arc through Avengers 4 for him. I think that journey is going from not wanting to return to Earth due to feeling he’s hated to becoming a truly beloved Avenger following the battle with Thanos.

Bravo again Marvel, 8.5/10

So you're saying you let the Tomato Meter influence your opinion on film? Might explain why so many people think this is the best MCU movie yet. Critics tell you how to think and you buy in hook, line, and sinker.

Red Skull being resurrected during the Infinity War movies.

Why would he need to be resurrected? He was sucked into a space vortex opened up by the tesseract. That doesn't equal death. It just means he got shat out on the opposite end of the universe.

Quite a bit of subtle adult humor . . .

I watched last night with my wife and my 11 year old - totally different viewing here. My son loved the action (and the silly humor) and my wife loved the more adult-themed humor. I thought the movie started a bit slow but gained a lot of steam. I loved Kate Blanchett - and she looks hot with dark hair and tights.

8/10 for me.

Do you mind if I keep a hold of this quote of your and paste it into your glowing review of Justice League which I'm sure if forthcoming in 2 weeks?

So any chance he reforges Mjornir? He said at the beginning how much he liked it.

I can't believe no one else has mentioned it...but did you guys not catch the blatant handjob joke Korg hit Thor with in regards to his hammer?

They're going back and forth about how he liked the hammer, and then he tells Korg it helped him fly. Eventually he tells Korg that he'd spin it really fast and it would pull him off...and Korg goes, "Oh my god! Your hammer pulled you off?!?"

I think I'm going to see this Tuesday night, but I realized I never saw The: Dark World. How necessary is it to watch that before?

None whatsoever. All you need to know is that Loki is imitating Odin.

You didn't even need to know that really. I had completely forgot about it and it didn't stop me from understanding anything.

Oh, there was something else: I was a bit taken aback that Thor didn't mention anything about the fate (avoiding a spoiler) of the The Warriors Three.

You would think they would have mentioned this - or the whereabout of Lady Sif (I know the actress "said" she couldn't do it but how about the character?).
