Thor: Ragnarok ( Spoiler Thread )

Fun movie. Kids will definitely love it.
Very choppy though. You could see where the jokes were reinserted. And man... joke after joke after joke. I'd assumed that it would at least begin and end as a straight movie, but the serious moments were few and far between.
Thor screaming like a terrorized woman was a bit too much. That and the slapstick humor. But it is what it is.
More entertaining than the other Thor films, and I'll probably remember this one a lot better.
Valkyrie was supposed to be the breakout character in this? She was pretty boring. (And supposedly the blonde Valkyrie killed in the flashback was the comic book version... even though she wasn't dressed like the Defenders Valkyrie.)
Goldblum was awesome. Really glad that they gave him the post-credits scene. He delivered 100%. Really hope he shows up in Guardians 3 or something.
Urban's Executioner was pretty blah. Hella was okay at the start, but just sort of walked through the rest of the film. Glad they finally gave Hiemdall center stage.
A lot of fun, the 80's straight to VHS soundtrack was a nice touch. (Man, that parody VHS commercial didn't stray much from the movie. The director did well on his promise to give us Flash Gordon).
Not sure how Thor gets an eye and a hammer before the Infinity Wars.
Anyone know what that huge ship was in the mid-credits scene?

My wife thought Goldblum and Korg were the best things.
I thought that Goldblum and Banner were the best things.
Some of the Korg jokes came across as punch-ups that they added to spice up the movie. The one at the end was sort of a speed bump for the final segment.

Are the jokes good or all duds like Guardians 2?

Waititi's forte is comedy. I think the jokes flow a bit better than in Guardians.

Much funnier than Guardians 2 but it was a little much. Banner jumping out and hitting the bridge is a prime example, could see it coming a mile away and took me out of the movie bc Banner would have broken his neck.
Agree that it's a bit choppy. A fun movie but not quite the tour de force it was hyped to be.
Valkarye was a miss. I thought Hela was sexy but maybe that says more about me than anything else.
Would see again.

Once upon a time our hit movies were impactful.
Now we get comic movies over and over again.

Is this the thread where we come to bash the comic movie genre?

I loved the movie.
Another fan here of the first two Thor films, unlike most.
I just wished Thor would have been the one to put his sister in her place and see all the main characters fight Hella by herself.
But I know that may not jive with the comic storyline.
I saw it in DBOX seats where they shake and that was like being on a ride in this film. Helluva lot of fun.

I agree. I loved it as well. I don't get the hate.
But I won't bash others for not liking it. Different strokes for different folks. And at least we won't have the excuse that another Marvel movie didn't have consequences. Thor lost an eye, Odin is dead, the Warriors 3 are dead and Asgard is destroyed. Oh and the Hulk may never turn back into Brice Banner again.
I'd say that's Winter Soldier level consequences there

I think the bigger issue from this movie, and marvel as a whole, was that although there were some consequences, none of them felt real because everyone was cut down with a joke in the middle of it. Like they are so afraid of letting the audience feel vulnerable.
That's my only gripe with the movie. I thought everything else was fantastic and the director has a very bright future

I'd say things were vulnerable at the end of Guardians 2.

I guess it fit my sense of humor perfectly because I think it is the best comic book movie ever made. I loved everything about it and can’t wait to se it again.

That one took me out of the movie hard, way too much. Where as Hulk going fight Surtur was better.

We are going into Infinity War, we could see a lot of those consequences reversed due to it.

Not sure if his eye comes back, but his hammer has been seen on the Infinity War set.

You mean like Thor screaming and begging when they wanted to give him a haircut, but losing an eye seemed to be par for the course?

A good bit of them should die and be brought back to life in it.

i saw somebody in a previous thread say that it was "another no consequences Marvel film." i'd say that it was top 3 in impact of the entire MCU. a lot of rough stuff happened here.
comedy was a bit over the top, but Hemsworth does well with the dumb brute straight man humor. or whatever you want to call it.
it was not the best, funniest, or most well written MCU movie, but i'd call it the most entertaining.
