re: The Queen's Gambit Netflix
Just finished binging the whole series this morning. I thought it was incredible. I have absolutely no complaints or critiques, it was just fantastic.

The show is a work of fiction, but does show the effects of trying to make it big in world chess circles.

From what I gather the show is based on the book by the same name... and while fiction the book tracks very similar to Bobby Fisher with some details of the character also coming from the book author himself. And the character is female because Fisher famously thought women chess players were terrible

Really wish they would have elaborated more on that night in Paris prior to Borgov 2.
Would have liked to see how that morning scene unfolded.

I read the book yesterday.

She was eight when she arrived at the orphanage, 13 when adopted, nineteen when she beat Borgov. I’m guessing the series added in that two year subterfuge because the actress was better suited to aging from 15 to 21?

Excellent show! Nice pacing and "Beth" was mesmerizing. First series I've binged on Netflix.

Drug use alcohol and sex more palatable for an older character.

re: The Queen's Gambit Netflix
Finally finished the last 2 episodes last night.

What a supremely enjoyable TV show. Like many have noted, none of the generic storylines but I was still genuinely happy she won at the end.

I wouldn’t change a thing about this show. The characters, plot, set and setting, costumes, everything was perfect.
