It was unnecessary, but didn't take away from the show & I didn't think twice about it until I read it on here.

I don't care if the show had 3 illegal trans circus clowns & Hunter Biden in it, I'd have still watched it.

It's one of the best shows I've seen & the best hospital drama's I've ever watched.

Well, here's your problem... you are supposed to put on your "Political Glasses" before watching any show. Didn't you get the memo?

How else will you know when to be outraged over every single little thing?

I don't even own "political glasses", don't post on or read the political board and I seldom incite or participate in political discussions around here so if that was directed at me, you couldn't be more wrong.

As I have said, that statement caught my attention as well as my wife's and I have also stated multiple times that it doesn't take away from the show. It just struck me as inflammatory.

And if someone says "every" I interpret that as "every".

So eat a bag of dicks Memphisguy.

He pretty clearly responded to someone else so I’m not really sure what you’re getting upset about here.

Great show.
Finished the last two episodes last night.

Definitely going to recommend it to friends and family who need something to watch. Obviously a very hard watch at times, but I was captivated and the last 5 episodes are truly great TV.

Overall, I really enjoyed the show and will be on board to watch season 2, but it definitely hit every hot-button, woke topic over the course of the season - trannies/misgendering/deadnaming, toxic masculinity, racial inequities in health care, gays, gay marriage, interracial gay marriage, feminism, and more that I can't think of off the top of my head, but I remember mentally checking the boxes as each of these topics came up.

I understand that's the times we live in and should be expected, but it nevertheless can get a bit tedious, especially when it issue adds nothing to the story line, but is just another box the writers can check.

But that aside, I did enjoy the show. Was not familiar with Bryan Cranston's kid before this show, but really loved her quirky character, as well as the dorky dude that had to change his scrubs like 20 times.

Agree with all this

Enjoyed it but writers clearly had a checklist of woke stuff they wanted to shoehorn in there and it felt forced.

Correct. Each episode had a checkbox of an issue to address

It’s like society now that we have the luxury to care about often such trivial matters.. instead of fighting for survival or actually struggling day to day

Nobody gave a shite about misgendering or using the wrong pronouns during the mass shooting event and the chaos . They weren’t interested in fighting for a cause in those episodes

It’s as if the show predicated on each episode being an hour in a single day had to use topical situations to create character conflicts that kept the plot and pace moving…

Yeah if only ER units would slap colored wristbands on patients under normal circumstances so then nobody would have to do any patient intake or chart medical history or practice bedside manner

The scene with Dr. King and her sister was onion cutting sweet. Enjoyed this season. Yes they did shoehorn woke topics into this season but I never felt beat over the head with it. Santos sucks, maybe living with Whitaker will humanize her a bit. Langdon calling our Dr Robi was a strategy I didn’t think he was going to take. That being said love the show.
PROTECT DR. KING AT ALL COST.

Is there a medical drama series that I missed? One that didn't deal with social issues? Because going back to Marcus Welby, M.D. and Medical Center in the early 70's, we were dealing with this stuff every other week.

We've been doing a rewatch of ER and they're dealing with HIV (heavily), racism, homophobia, girls with male chromosomes, government intervention, sexual harassment, medical staff abusing drugs, and on and on...

No! Everything was different in the past and you're just making all of that up. Next you'll tell me star trek had social issue episodes!

I’ve been binging this show over the last few days, and I’m enjoying it, but there are a lot of preachy/woke storylines that are so ham-fisted & unnecessary. Keeps a good show from being a really good show.

No, no there aren't. There is ONE actual "storyline" that carries over episodes... the pregnant teen. Everything else is just sort of an "in passing" sort of thing.

None of those kept it from being really good. It was a REALLY good show. Probably the best thing on TV in the past several years. Or at least in the running for being the best.

ETA: I will say that I think Noah Wyle has been exceptional in it.

This is the best show to come out in a while. The acting, writing and production value easily overpower the obvious box checking of preachy social issues.

The actor who played Robby is incredible.

The mass shooting incident was like a leftist fan fiction of what what 1 angry white dude can do with a single AR

Shot like 200 people lol

The vegas guy with a great line of sight and fed assistance didnt even accomplish that

Wife and I started watching it this past week. We just finished episode 10 last night. We're hooked. Really good show. Wiley is fantastic, but the entire cast is really strong.

You’re nuts or just don’t want to see it.

Just to be sure I think this show is excellent (so far).

But it is filled to the brim with woke in every single episode. Shoed in for no reason whatsoever.

I’ve started keeping a list each episode it’s so prominent. It’s totally ridiculous

I’m as anti woke as anyone but I do think one place where you would run into all the social issues the show brought up is a big city ER. Probably not in one shift I love the show though and think John Carter should win all the awards.
