Some of you are harsh critics. I've enjoyed the season.

They showed this last episode that Rose never changed. She runs a business that isn't profitable but the people around her continue to support her. She isn't grounded in the least, never was.

Midge just wants to see her mama happy. She continues to throw money after propping up a dying business to a demographic that doesn't exist anymore.

The 70s generation have completely changed their mindset and perspective on what they want out of life.

We could've done without the Rose thing.

Why?

It’s showing us what is going on for one of the primary characters in the future. And I like Abe and Rose.

My prediction is that Gordon got to Parr and blocked Midge from getting the gig.

This. Gordon might have watched Midge’s act but he knows Midge is great and knows if she goes on Parr or his show, she’s gone. Midge or Susie are going to have to force his hand to get her on. My guess is that Midge quits the writers room and goes to work for Danny or at least threatens to do that and Gordon puts her on….OR Susie gets to Gordon’s wife and THAT is how Midge gets her break. Cuz Susie worked an old flame to get to Gordon. That was a major build up between Susie and Gordon’s wife to ONLY get one interaction between the two. Can’t see that not coming back in the story at some point. I predicted that earlier in the season and I’m still holding out on that one

I also got the impression that this was Rose dealing with the grief of losing Abe, which I thought was well done.

Midge also mentioned something about letting her enjoy the time she had left. Which make me think that it could’ve also been her Mom was sick (or just a reference to her age).

Midge's outfit was a dead giveaway to why it wasn't going to happen.

No way Midge gets married in a pantsuit.

One thing said at the roast. One of the guys said Joel just got out of prison.

Does that mean they reunite for good?

I think it ends with them back together. It's cliché, but fits overall with the story.

Like you said, even if it’s cliche it fits. They clearly never stopped loving each other. They just had to grow into a more mature relationship to appreciate that.

I know the show needed it to happen, but episode 1 seems out of character for Joel in hindsight. He was a very standup guy except for the first episode. Honestly Midge became less likable and Joel more likeable.

I got two buddies, both great guys and now loyal husbands, who got insecure and cheated on their first wives, then got served divorce papers.

Doesn't seem out of character at all.

I think Joel was just immature and struggled when Midge started pursuing comedy. Remember, he was also trying to be a comic when the show started and Midge beat him to it. And divorce wasn't as socially acceptable as it is now.

I mean, Joel cheated on her before she even stepped foot on stage. Joel sucked as a comic. He didn't have the natural ability that all the greats have. Probably could have worked his absolute arse off to be decent and do clubs on the weekends but it's clear he just didn't have what Midge, Lenny and all the others have. He didn't cheat on her because she beat him to comedy. He cheated on her because he wasn't satisfied in nearly every other aspect of his life. Hell, Joel only ever really seems happy when he's near Midge or when he was opening up his own club at first. Before that, he was getting more likable but he still seemed miserable.

Joel cheated on Midge because he knew he probably wasn't that good at comedy, even before he tanked that one time and worked a job he hated and needed some excitement. He did get jealous of Midge after. Immature shite. But yeah he's grown on me a lot since then and i enjoyed his arc running the club. It's a shame they kind of abandoned that or that it's kind of used now to save Midge from the mobsters. It was the one thing he had going for him and that he seemed to enjoy

Abe is the best character on the show. The writing and acting are perfect for him.

This week was another great episode, but feels so out of place with the rest of the season. Should have been like 3 episodes ago, at minimum prior to the Roast of Susie. The ending at the train station immediately followed up with roast talking about their estrangement would have been a lot better flow IMO.
