But this show was supposed to be about Grogu, Mando, and their growth through their adventures.

According to whom?

Djarin was the only Mandalorian we saw at the beginning, but once they began introducing others (in the Coverts, Bo-Katan's crew, et al.), we've never been guaranteed that the series is Djarin's story alone.

Well that's not happening. I will not watch animated series.

It drives me nuts when adults have this obstinate, ignorant take.

This guy had a great take on Season 3, with a little deeper backstory on some of the new people. Screen Rant

A lot of adults don't have time time to justify watching 75 half-hour episodes (had to look that up) of an animated show.

This is never the justification. It's because they equate animation to children's entertainment, and dismiss it on that lone characteristic without any consideration for the writing. Rebels and Clone Wars were geared towards kids, yes, but it still has really good character development and deep themes that are executed very well.

I'm not going to lie that I do feel this way. I'm what most of you would call an old lady, even though I may not totally look and feel that way. I'm 60. I've got tons of shows that I'd rather watch before I'd spend hours watching an animated Clone Wars. I just don't care enough to devote that kind of time. I liked the original concept, but it has definitely changed this season. I should have expected it when one of the most important Mandalorian episodes was placed squarely in the middle of BoBF.

I definitely feel a bait and switch in the Mandalorian. For 2 years, we had a show that really centered around Mando and Grogu. This year is just not the same show. I am not the only one on this board who feels this way.

Agreed. It's called The Mandalorian. We are finally starting to learn about The Mandalorian.

This is the problem. There are a lot of us that don't want to watch Rebels, Clone Wars, etc.

Well I simply don’t agree. And you’re missing out, especially with the later seasons of Clone Wars and Rebels.

Clone Wars is what the prequels should’ve been. It explains Anakins angst about the Jedi Order, and honestly he was probably right. Pity Lucas couldn’t bear to take notes, and made Anakin come off like a whiner. It established an excellent character in Ashoka. Honestly the last half of Clone Wars is better than anything Lucas put out in the prequels.

And the last two seasons of Rebels are excellent. The Ghost crew is awesome, and I’m really excited to see them in live action. A lot of the lore for Mandalore comes from those two seasons, and are especially important in The Mandalorian. Ashokas duel with Vader and her realization of who he is was really powerful. I wish we could see that meet up between her and Luke. When she tells him in Boba Fett about his impatience “Just like your father “ and he gives her the look, god to hear that initial conversation. “So yeah I was once your fathers apprentice…”

Here is my hope from the Shadow Counsel scene.

First what they have done so far -

Everything in the Mandalorian is leading up to the events of the Sequels. The same can be said for Bad Batch as well. They are filling in the gap between ROTJ and FA, the same way they used Clone Wars to plug holes from AotC to RotS.

Andor, Rebels and Rouge One are the gap filler for RotS to ANH.

The prequels and sequels just sucked and all these shows were needed to have it make more since and are the more enjoyable parts of the SW universe.

Now about that Shadow Counsel -
Thrawn is too large a character to setup and destroy before the events First Order. He has zero mention in all 3 sequel movies and in the casual movie only SW fan does not even exist.

That scene setup two houses in the fractured empire, House Palp (clone) and House Thrawn. We know where Moff is going and his story, along with Hux and some others. Those actions are going to roll into the sequels as we know them. My hope is they figured out a way to introduce Thrawn as the true "Heir to the Empire", expand that more during Ashoka and then figure out how to displace him for the 1 year the sequel trilogy used up.

Make Thrawn the now and then also the future. Let us forget about 34-35 ABY. Rey can still be Rey and she is a solid character, cursed with bad writing. Grogu will live for 100s of years.

I propose there is a three house setup.
Team Palp - Hux working on project Necromancer
Team Thrawn - Pellaeon gearing up for Thrawn’s return
Team Gideon - who or what is he cloning? There are cloning tanks in his base but he specifically said he isn’t interested in Necromancer. Seems threatened by Thrawn’s name drop but also wary of Hux.

I was thinking they were possibly setting up Snoke as an alternate cloning attempt by Gideon instead of a stepping stone in Necromancer to get Palp, but it doesn’t explain Hux Jr’s loyalty to Snoke and the versions of Snoke in ep 9 opening.

Damn I gotta say I might need to start staying away from this thread.

I’m a very casual Star Wars fan and just watch this show to be entertained. I watch an episode, enjoy it, then come read 3+ pages of people shitting all over it and all of a sudden I don’t like the episode as much

No knock on them or you, but they are children's cartoons. The entire universe is pretty youth oriented, but Rebels especially is for young kids. Clone Wars is for slightly older kids. They're enjoyable (though I haven't watched much of Rebels), but I can see why someone wouldn't want to watch it.

Yea I'm trying to watch all of Rebels before Ashoka drops, just to learn about Thrawn, and I've made it to episode 4 of the first season and it's tough to power through.

Thrawn had captured cloning vats from the Emperor in the Zahn novels. And he was fiercely loyal to Palpatine. So why not make him the architect behind the reborn Emperor? Bring Pappatine back and set in motion the events of the sequel trilogy and return once Palpatine was destroyed once and for all.

I’m all for this. My biggest question is Gideon’s plan with his clones. It already seems like we have the emperors clone covered with Project Necromancer and I really feel like they are setting up Gideon to be replaced by Thrawn as soon as this finale. Just not a lot of time to reveal his plan for it to have real impacts on the future after using 3 seasons of hints to get us here.

Keep going; I promise that you won’t be disappointed. First half of the first season is the low point of the series.

Agree. Season 2 is epic, especially the end. We learn so much about the force.
