Point being, Mandalore ain't going to be heavily involved in outside activities for the next century or so.

I don’t know much of the back story, but isn’t Mandalore the main source of Beskar? That alone makes it worth it and I’m surprised Gideon was able to keep it to himself.

Remember the planet was rumored to be cursed or unable to sustain life on it. Another rumor created by the Empire to keep people off of it.

Just like in Andor with his home planet. Though I believe it may had more to do with hiding their mining efforts that killed off the population.

My guess would be the writers were so bad at their job that they forgot the Mandos existed. They were too busy making statements about the evils of the intergalactic weapons industry.

That sounds cynical. But honestly, at this point when you have a question about why or how something happened in a Star Wars media, the answer is just “because the writers are bad and also they hate Star Wars.”

There are no answers. This stuff is made up on the fly. They don’t care if it makes sense. Only if it makes dollars. And they seemingly care less and less about that too.

Good question as I believe even the EU does not cover that time for the people and its planet. Boba Fett was the leader/Mandalore in 23 ABY which is 14 years after the Mandalorian show and 11 years before Force Awakens.

In the EU Fett was still the Mandalore in 40ABY during the 2nd Galactic War but since Disney has went a different direction away from the Solo twins and what transpired in the EU who knows how they will try and write if they do.

Finally realized where I recognized the imperial Chick from. It’s the same actor that played the shithead little boy at the beginning of Jurassic Park

What happened to Mando's disintegration sniper rifle?
Seems like that thing would come in handy

Was this established in a recent episode? I was under the impression he was saved by someone else

Love that Din gave up his beaker spear and now the dark saber and has no way to help fight the Guards now.

Thrawn has always been depicted as a soft spoken, uber intelligent antagonist who respects his adversaries.

Interesting they brought in Gillad Pellaeon.

I mean, can we just stop for a min and appreciate Timothy Zahn? Seriously, it was the perfect follow up to ROTJ. I just finished rereading the Thrawn trilogy and it’s truly wonderful. And here, Star Wars has poached all of his characters (except for Mara Jade) and inserted them into this canon.

I will give it to them. Rebels is a good series, had skin in the game for some good characters. And I like that they are setting up Thrawns return and more of the Ghost crew in live action. Wonder if we’ll finally see an Ezra Bridger sighting. Maybe even a FPJr force ghost cameo as Kannan. So good on it to Dave and John for at least approaching this from people that give a shite about fandom and story.

And how much longer before we find out Grogu is a clone of Yoda which they are clearly setting up since there’s a dude in the previews for Ashoka that’s clearly a Jorrus C’Baoth analogue?

So... they are simply following the George Lucas playbook?

There’s a key difference. George Lucas is one man. Look, I think the prequels suck too. But at least they are the vision of a singular storyteller. These movies and shows (Andor and Mando 1 and 2 excepted) are the work of committees. Committees that don’t know or care about the harm they cause. They only seek to generate sales of new product and to push this weird obsession with girl power. It isn’t art. It’s propaganda.

I love this show, but I'm feeling a little frustrated after watching the latest episode. As a former Army Ranger and combat veteran, I have some experience with running recon patrols. After the initial skirmish with the imperial commandos, any decent leader would have withdrawn, regrouped, and made a plan. Those commandos had to come from somewhere, and they were clearly retreating back to something. So here's my question: do I hate the writers for being incompetent and not doing their homework, or do I hate Bo-Katan for being an incompetent jackass who needs to be relieved from command immediately?

Let me explain. Bo-Katan ordered her troops to pursue the commandos, leading them into what turned out to be a larger, more dangerous force almost every time. And when they hit what was obviously imperial infrastructure, they just kept going in full force. This isn't the purpose of a recon patrol. Officers typically exist to prevent this type of stupidity, but Bo-Katan, as the patrol leader, behaved like a rookie with a bit of adrenaline.
When the enemy broke contact, she should have sent a scout team (2 to 4 Mandalorians) ahead to gather intel, while falling back with the rest of the patrol to establish a perimeter and wait for reinforcements. This is not high-level military theory; it's basic combat doctrine. It's frustrating to see such an experienced leader and commando behave like a young, green idiot who has never done this before.

There are thousands of veterans out there who would have loved to help the show's writers design a more plausible ambush or trap. I just hope the show improves in this regard, as it would make it more enjoyable for anyone who knows anything about warfare.

Interesting they brought in Gillad Pellaeon.

Thrawn post-credits scene after S3 finale on Wednesday all but guaranteed, now.

If there's a Joruus C'Baoth, then there must be a Luuke analogue, too.

Think about the boner everyone had when Luke showed up on the finale and all the possibilities moving forward, and we get this?

And to get any part of that story continuing at all, you had to watch the Boba Fett episodes. What should have been a dramatic and heart tugging episode between Mando and Grogu wasn't even a part of this series.

I don't hate Bo Katan. I don't mind her ruling Mandolore. But this show was supposed to be about Grogu, Mando, and their growth through their adventures.

I don't intent on watching Rebels or Clone Wars. I don't like animated series. This season is now all about extending the SW universe, rather than great stories about Mando and Grogu. There are some fun parts, but it's not what I signed up for.

You really need to watch Rebels. That’s where we meet him in canon. It explains why he is so bad and why he has been gone.

This is the problem. There are a lot of us that don't want to watch Rebels, Clone Wars, etc. We wanted this to be a show that's about the Mandalorian, a more episodic show, maybe with an overarching development of something like reclaiming Mandalore where they could have missions together, etc.

I wanted more of a stand alone show. I wanted more Mando and Grogu...or even leave him training with Luke and check in on him occasionally.

You're likely not ever going to get that in a property like Star Wars. And that's by design, to get you to watch the other parts of the property.
