I know this is a no game spoilers thread, but now that tonight’s episode has come and gone, can anyone with knowledge say if this episode was true to the game? Particularly the basement and ending scene. Or has it gone off the rails and they’re just writing their own story now?

Please don’t discuss further details or possible upcoming future episode content.

Thanks

Trying to hide from WLF. Let’s turn the power on and light this building up. No one will notice

I actually agree, the end was one of Bella’s better scenes this season. Still feels clumsy overall in the execution though. It’s like they’re dragging out stuff that doesn’t matter while flying through stuff that does.

Glad that Jesse (and hopefully Tommy) has showed up.

The Deus Ex Machina was WAY too heavy in that scene.

Oh we’re in a den full of smart, fast zombies that’s located in a ducking war zone? Poof our friends from hundreds of miles away just show up to save us.

Also the zombies weren’t afraid of 2 of us with guns but now they are terrified cuz there are 3 of us with guns!

It’s been too long for me to remember if it played out exactly like it did in this episode, but they’re hitting the high points. There is one major plot difference from a couple of episodes ago that has rearranged a lot of the smaller details since then, but they’re definitely not way out on a limb making a whole bunch of new shite up.

First time I didn’t think she was brain dead or cringy af. Hopefully the rest of the show follows that and the bullshite love story can go away.

don’t know anything about the game either and don’t want to know but the disease going airborne in the basement was a terrifying twist! Wasn’t expecting that. Wonder why the team that was down there when they sealed it off all still appeared alive although turned, but not zombified? They didn’t attack and for whatever reason Ellie didn’t appear concerned that they would

The folks incorporated into the overall structure? I think the fungus decides how much/fast it takes over.

Seems like their sole purpose was to aspirate the spores. Spread that zombie goodness.

Yeah, that side/back-story was great. Would like a lot more of that.

Pretty solid episode overall but I'll bring up two problems I had so far. I think the pacing this season has been weird especially with only 7 episodes which isn't as much the shows fault as it seems to be overall with HBO shows as of late. Despite this season only covering half of the story it does seem slow at times and then oddly sped up like tonight's episode. Next week seems to be purely a flashback episode which means the final episode of the season is going to probably have a lot going on hopefully it doesn't feel rushed or bloated.

Aside from that Ellie seems less vengeful than I'd hope she would be. Dina at times seemed more out for blood than Ellie was which just seems off.

Onto the good stuff, man I'm really hyped for more cult scenes as well as their intentions with the WLFs.

The spores are finally here I like how the show is handling considering they originally didn't want to do it. Although here it seems extremely isolated to only parts where the fungus has existed for an extremely long time.

Great to see Jessie finally show up definitely can't wait to finally see him in action. Also Tommy is somewhere around Seattle good to know he also couldn't live with Joel's death.

Man I've been pretty lukewarm for the most part on Bella as Ellie this season (I don't hate her but she hasn't really blown me away(, but I'll give her props for that ending. Finally slow seeing Ellie start to snap as she tortured Nora knowing full well that Nora was about to die anyway.

Next week looks to be at least a majority flashback episode but I do hope we are able to progress the story along a little bit more given we only have two episodes left this season.

That being said I am very exited for the next episode especially we get to see Joel again as well as some backstory on Joel and Ellie's time jump

Solid episode. The big set pieces continue to be great, but I'm still not liking this Ellie. I didn't think that final scene was that great from her, maybe because I've seen that scene in the game and it was much better there.

I agree with others that I want to see more of the seraphites. I'm guessing they'll play a large role next season.

When they stumbled upon them in the park I figured they’d wind up teaming up to go after the WLFs as a common enemy but that’ll take some kind of big intervention if so seeing how they left off this episode with them shooting at each other

I am not a gamer, but I find it hard to believe that gamer's buys/play these games only to spend 1/2 of the time exploring a coming to age lesbian freak show love relationship. It's also very hard to believe that these two can avoid an entire nation of zombies and multiple well armed militia's with a pistol or two.

My God this has jumped the shark but it possible this could have been saved had they not cast the Ellie with who they did and the desire to push their agenda. What is wrong with these people.

I really want to like this show because I’m interested in the world in which it exists.

But holy hell do I not care about the story that is being told within that world.

Goddammit this is frustrating.

The stuff with the infected, spores, the seraphites...all fantastic stuff. But the Dina and Ellie scenes are just cringe. Also, they've made Ellie dumb to make Dina look smarter. Really odd choice. It almost feels like two different directors are working on these episodes.

It is interesting but just gross. That shite just creeps me out. Wish they would dive into the science part of how it infects the brain and makes the infected super strong.

I checked out after last week. Curious how the rest of the season goes to see if it's worth picking back up on. No longer a week to week show for me though. Just too dumb.

I just caught up to this Season after recently playing both games, back to back. I had never played them. I did watch season 1 on release, so I saw it prior to playing game 1.

My biggest critique for Bella is that she is no where near as charming as Ellie. There was a sense of ownership in Ellie's story, both games, that I find hard to give a crap about for the show. To me, they are making a bigger deal of Dina than she was in the games. Ellie was the clear leader of that trip through Seattle and they are making Dina more important. Maybe this last episode was a shift. And to many other poster's points, Game 2 Ellie is a menace. Playing as her in that game was fun.

I saw earlier that its only 7 episodes which is a tragedy. They will definitely speed through some good content unless they are stretching it out for a season 3 which is kinda dumb too. I guess you can't have it both ways though.
