I learned about Gay people from a superman comic as a kid. They had this Gary couple getting attached and superman saved them and then have a psa.

I tried to find the panel. Then found out current superman is Gay. Wtf?

All the modern comics have cratered in sales and they’ve all injected these types of identity politics. The movies and shows that fail in both major studios are usually the ones who skip over everything the fans love and start with the modern, failed material. John Stewart isn’t modern at all, he’s older than most people here but this isn’t John Stewart in this show, it’s a woke black female insert posing as John Stewart. Thats why the character is so odd and bizarre.

Yeah, I don't get it. John and Hal are both military, but very different paths (Hal was a fighter pilot and then test pilot in the Air Force; John was a Marine sniper). There's a comradery from that shared background but also you see the differences, just as you see it in John's post-military career as an architect.

It's really cool to read the comics everyone is in, especially when Kyle (artist) and John (architect) are on the page. Kyle's constructs form like he's drawing them, while John's form together by their components (he makes a rifle to take out a Yellow Lantern and you can see all the different parts of the rifle forming together).

The latest episode left the racial shite behind and just focused on the story, thankfully. Not sure why they changed up Hector and then small-role'd him, but it's far from story-breaking (more of a waste of a good potential villain than anything else).

Interesting twist with the manhunter.

As a non green lantern reader this is what I wish we got some of. That’s interesting.

It’s clear that the black girl writer obsessed with race episode was a one off but it does have some lasting effects. Instead of some cool back story for Hal like a fighter pilot, we get… white privilege. Nice.

But imo we now have a great pilot episode, ok follow up, terrible third and course correct very solid fourth. Hopefully it stays that way because that was a fun episode with a really interesting dynamic with Hal and John.
