It's revered everywhere, as if you didn't know that already. This is the weakest troll I've seen in a minute.

8 Academy Award Nominations (winning 2)
Highest grossing film of 2008
Often credited with "legitimizing" comic book movies
94% on RT for Critics and viewers
Arguably (and is imo) the greatest Comic book movie ever made

Yeah....this message board isn't the only place on the internet where people talk about how much they love The Dark Knight. Critics and movie historians credit the film for making the comic book movie a genre to be taken seriously as an art form.

Love it or hate it, it's a film of high historical importance.

No other actor has anywhere as close to encapsulating the brilliantly random chaos of this character as did Ledger. Even though all the awards he got were posthumous, he deserved every single one.

Mark Hamill man. And he's still the quintessential Joker. And it isn't close.

I agree with all the problems you listed. I think the movie is extremely flawed and was jizzed all over when it came out.

But it isn’t a terrible movie either. It has some redeeming qualities that the ridiculous plot holes (the accountant never mentions Wayne, Luscious does) don’t entirely wipe out.

X-Men and X2 already did that. And lest you forget Superman which is still largely seen as #1 deservedly.

Second, it isn't really a comic book film.

No it isn't. That's typically part of a film "not aging well." It will be remembered for Ledger and not much else.

What, exactly, is so "historically important" about it?

I only opened the thread to upvote you. The Dark Knight was a great Batman movie, but you'll get no downvotes from me, sir. Nice try.

Reorder the chapters on the DVD to play it in reverse. Such a better movie. Watch it and then change my mind

40 year old man who still reads comic books is here to tell you that The Dark Knight is the worst Batman movie ever made and ruined Batman and superhero movies forever

Well to be fair, no movie is really important.

It definitely seems like many die hard comic book fans are less likely to love The Dark Knight.

The funny thing about this thread is you can nitpick any movie this much. All films have nonsense in them. This has become so ridiculous in this message board era.

A number of things...

1. TLDR all of it
2. It's not an oscar winner, nobody says that, but it is the best comic book movie of all time, with the best villain. If this is hot garbage, then it would be hard to describe how bad every other super hero movie is.

Im running out of things to say.

So, i am starting to understand the vitriol against my post. Good lord people, it's just a movie. And yes, it sucks. Ledger's performance was great, but the overall movie was a pile of shite. The acting was BAD. VERY BAD. Bale sucked. Gylenhall sucked. Even Eckhart wasn't good in it. And i think it's because the writing was putrid. I used to love the movie. But once i got over the fact that Ledger was incredible as the joker, the rest of the movie seemed rushed for time.

I did not start this thread to troll anyone. I happened to catch the movie a couple days ago and rewatched it again and every time i watch it, the same points in my OP always stick out. I do like the dark atmosphere and some of the cinematography, but the story was garbage. I didn't realize the shite storm this would ignite. Rest easy brave movie board. It's my review.

And yes, i added the "change my mind" because i wanted someone to actually try and change my mind by maybe debating the points i brought up. Hasn't really happened yet, so it stands.

It's a message board. People come here to discuss movies they either like or dislike. Is that not the purpose of message boards? Discussion?

Absolutely agree. Well, I don’t know if she’s a good actor or not. I’m too distracted by her ugly face to notice.
