But again, the ending is bleak AF

You could never watch Rogue One and know the ending was going to be bleak if you knew the OG story. A bleak ending was required if you were going to tell that story. But the story itself made it great and filled in a gap in the story. You act like there aren't other bleak moments in Star Wars,

quote:

It’s dark and gritty to a fault.

Since that movie has come out, you're the first person I've ever heard say that on here. Nobody but you considerers Rogue One's tone to be too gritty. It was part of what made it great.

And who cares if Andors first two episodes were slow. Are you going to try and argue that every episode of Mando is great? You could literally skip episodes and not miss out on any of the story. I stopped early in S2 the show got so corny.

I didn’t say it did. The issue is the only things Disney seems to be able to make that aren’t total trash fires (outside of cartoon’s apparently idk haven’t seen them) is the more bleak stuff like Rogue One and Andor. If that was complimented by quality light hearted entertainment you wouldn’t see me complaining.

The light hearted stuff it just so happens is all garbage though and coincidentally that’s where they stick their DEI cocks most fervently. Directors and creatives capable of producing something like Rogue and Andor aren’t interested in their identity politics, rape enablers are.

Obi Wan dies in the first movie, he’s a much bigger character than anybody in R1. A new hope is way too dark man.

Fire behaves oddly in this show. Like in the first episode there was fire on the ship. Now if there was oxygen present is possible to have a blue flame. But no way you get an orange flame.

Then in the last episode a single oil lamp is enough to burn concrete and steel?
The showrunner has no concept of how fire works.

I never understood why Obi Wan just gave up. He let Vader kill him. Yet he disappeared.

Haven't watched this show. Based on reviews, don't think I will watch it ever, but who knows. I may get bored enough to do so.

As for "best Star Wars since Disney took over", that's kind of a tossup between Andor and The Mandalorian. And honestly, I'm not including Rogue One in that, because 99% of what makes Andor so damn good isn't included in R1.

Andor is an excellent, intense, high-stakes political thriller. There's really nothing special about any of the action, it's all about the storylines and acting.
The Mandalorian is a great fun action show, lots of Western analogies.
The two shows appeal to different tastes; you can like both, or one or the other. But they're not similar.

Andor looks like a feature film you'd see at the theater. The tone of it feels like this is really happening, "a long time ago in a galaxy, far far away."

Watching this shite 100% makes me feel like I'm watching some cheap show on the CW. Or as if it's some shitty high school play where these terrible actors come off their side of the stage to do their part and then return back behind the stage when it's over.

The Obi-Wan series had so much potential, but it was filmed as if the camera man was drunk. Did he also film The Blair Witch Project?

Star Wars now days is made by people that can't differentiate Anikan from Luke all the while simply trying to appease the woke in charge. You would think after The Last Jedi was the laughing stock and made Solo bomb, that they would've 'read the room' and got their shite together, but here we are.

One scene "we have to stop the emperor he's a sith lord"

Next scene "I pledge my loyalty to you emperor "

What’s crazy is that Headland doesn’t seem stupid. Quite the opposite really. And she really seemed excited talking about the prequels and The Clone Wars.

But none of what she says in these interviews comes across in this show at all. It’s just lip service or she’s just that disconnected from her writers’ room. She was most intrigued by the dark side and the Sith (supposedly.) We are 3 episodes in and haven’t gotten much of any of that. Maybe one day we’ll get a show about Palpatine and his rise leading into Phantom Menance. Or just a show based around the Sith period.

Andor is without a doubt the best thing Star Wars related Disney+ has put out and it’s not even close. Mando and Bad Batch being 2 and 3, as a whole Rouge One with Andor being a very close second.
