Our savior Dave Filoni signed off on this shite?

I doubt he “signed off” on it as much as he was told this is what we are doing and was just like oh okay and went back to doing his own stuff because he realizes no one is taking the other shite seriously so it’s not a fight worth fighting for him.

No it’s not. What has he produced on his own that’s actually of quality? I know he gets all the credit for clone wars in the zeitgeist like he solely was the one creator bravely charging forward into uncharted waters but that’s simply a lie.

I learned today that Filoni’s wife is/was in a dang coven of witches IRL.

Ok so a mid cartoon and a below avg tv series. Again why is he worshipped? I guess we’re just supposed to ignore Ashoka and Book of Boba Fett?

I will say despite my disdain for this show, Lee Jung Jae is trying his damndest to bring some light to it. Learned English just for this role and he’s been fantastic.

He really is the sole redeeming aspect of this dumpster fire.

As for why that origin story takes place within a female witchcraft community, Headland says she took inspiration from the Nightsisters of Dathormir seen on another Star Wars series. “I was very inspired by the Nightsisters storyline and the Ventress storyline on The Clone Wars when I was a budding writer,” says Headland. “So when I got the chance to make a show set in the Star Wars universe, it felt like, ‘Well, of course I'm going to do my version of witches. I just am going to shoot my shot.’”

But The Acolyte journey into witchdom is not a mere extension of what we have already seen on other Star Wars shows, as Osha and Mae’s background perfectly fits in with the women they have become. “As the characters developed, it made a lot of sense that they would be at the center of a coven,” says Headland. “That the girls would be almost revealed not as children, but as the legacy of what their mother started.”

Headland also explains the coven’s mantra: “The power of one, the power of two, the power of many. In our show, the Jedi have the power of many. I think their mother started as one, and the girls are two, and she wants her legacy to be the power of many. So it was thought of as paying homage to The Clone Wars, but it eventually became the story of a mom and her children and the way that our parents have particular expectations for us. And if Star Wars is anything, it's got a lot of parents and children and living up to or rejecting the legacy of those parents.”

So headland is creatively bankrupt, looked at female character archetypes people enjoy from the EU and video games, and made them lame black and gay. Totally shocked.

Between 1990 and Today Mando is the best star wars property.

The Mandalorian
Ahsoka
Clone Wars
Rebels
The Bad Batch

He was also responsible for adding the Vader scene in Rogue One (best part of that movie) and the interaction between Vader and Obi-wan in Kenobi (the best part of that series)

A lot of shite that Disney has done with Star Wars has been arse, but Dave has been golden. Really wish George would have asked Disney to put Dave in charge of Lucasfilms back when he sold instead of Kathleen Kennedy. Could have had a Star Wars run the last decade that would have almost mirrored the MCU run from 2008-2019 but no.

Rogue one and Andor are the only Star Wars products Disney has made that would be deemed as acceptable pre 2014

You think Mando is better than Rogue One and Andor?

Kind of shows the sad state of Star Wars if "hold this baby while I go do cool stuff" is the best product put out since the OG trilogy.

It’s not even that anymore. It’s now “hold this baby while I watch another character do cool stuff”

Mandalorian is absolutely better than both.

Andor is a little overrated. Good series, very well made, but very tedious.
