It's great tv, for sure. But Blackbeard was never keelhauled.

Started watching it on Netflix. Got 3 episodes in and saw it’s being removed on April 16th. Is there any other platform to watch it?

You can watch it with a Starz subscription through Prime or another streaming app. Looks like the current deal is $4.99/month for 3 months.

The first two seasons are very good but IMO it got way worse after that and I stopped watching it.

While I do think the first two seasons are best, it’s not “way worse”. Still an excellent show - just feels to me a bit incestual/stale because it’s all the same players over and over.

Acting, action and tension are all excellent.

I learned about Black Sails from here and have told a ton of people to watch it after I did.

Well hopefully you didn't tell them massive spoilers like you did in this thread for someone who started the thread saying they are watching it for the first time. What a dick move.

Yes, that was by far the gayest thing you will see in the show if that's the episode I am thinking of . That's out of the way and the story is full steam ahead now.

The end of Season 2 (maybe 3) is about as good of a season finale as I’ve ever seen

This and The Leftovers are two of my all time favorite shows and I almost gave up on both because I wasn’t hooked in the first 5/6 episodes

Man

I love the Leftovers and based on a season of Black Sails before quitting, that seems like an odd couple to me.

Maybe I need to give it another shot, but frankly I just never found it that enthralling (or candidly, that gratuitous compared to Spartacus, Banshee, etc).

I'm in the middle of S2 now. Good show. Frankly, the nudity doesn't seem as gratuitous because none of the chicks are as hot as Spartacus' cast. But, it's a fun show to invest time in.

Just finished the series. SPOILERS BELOW

- Thought the show really started to drag when Woods Rodgers showed up. Not familiar with how the show was planned out, but season 4 felt simultaneously rushed to close out storylines and drug out to add stakes. Way too much dialogue and not enough action.

- Really didn't care for the closing arcs of LJS or Flint. Complete nonsense. Again, maybe that had something to do with the timing of the show ending or source material.

- Billy Bones was consistently the most annoying character from start to finish. Dude was never happy and constantly bitching.

- if I never have to hear Max's awful voice and accent again, I'll die a happy man.

The accounting of the end-of-story for Flint was told by Silver. Flint's last speech was just as hardcore* as he had been throughout the story. So I think many people believe Silver was just telling a tale to avoid saying what really happened. And that's what I believe as well, because the story he told was ridiculous.

*I thought of Flint as maybe the ultimate libertarian, but after looking up discussions about Flint, he was more of an anarchist, because he wanted to be free of any government, not just England's.

It's funny. I enjoyed the show a lot (just binged it in the 3 or so weeks before it dropped off the Netflix roster the 16th), but there were a ton of things about it that I rolled my eyes at/hated. Max was #1 of a long list.
