It's not a franchise. It's one good movie with some shitty sequels.
Like they did with Robocop, the remake hacks won't get the material and will give us some edgy, action-focused bullshite.

But Neil doesn't really miss, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
. I really don’t get this notion at all. elysium was a decent watch I guess and I do like Jodie Foster but it was by any reasonable metric a “miss”, and chappie is unwatchable. I have not seen gran turismo so maybe I’m wrong there.
Anyway, starship troopers done right could be great but I think the original movie is an all time classic and improvement will be difficult

Heinlein was my favorite SF author when I was in high school and college; I'm surprised more of his books haven't been made into movies... but then again it's probably just as well.

The original will be hard to match but my guess is they will take something that is about as un-woke as it gets and try to make it woke.

It was a cartoon series (Roughnecks) on cable tv back in the late 90s I believe. Pretty decent if I'm remembering correctly.
