‘Starship Troopers’ Reboot in the Works at Sony, Neill Blomkamp Attached to Direct New Adaptation of Sci-Fi Novel
This is what gives me hope:
Doing Heinlein's Starship Troopers for real could be awesome. Blomkamp has great visual flair, but I don't trust him as a writer. "The Creator" from a couple years ago looked fantastic, especially for its budget, but made no sense.

...the new “Starship Troopers” is said to draw inspiration from Heinlein’s original military story, rather than pulling from the fascist send-up that characterized Verhoeven’s satirical adaptation.

Bring back Denise Richards. If anyone can do a reboot justice, it’s Neil. LFGO!
Need a cameo from NPH and CVD.

Blomkamp. Great. Another lame fascist parable. So novel!

One of my favorite movies from back in the day, the universe, the action, and Denise Richards

I love both the book and the Verhoeven movie for different reasons.
Hopefully Blomkamp can stay close to the source material - with power suits - without turning it into a CGI/AI clusterfrick. Or trying to make a mockery of fascism but failing, like Verhoeven did.

Why were the VFX from the original so superior to the shite that makes it into some premium TV series these days?

The book is better, but I don’t see how they will do it justice.
I would love to see a series of the book Armor by John Steakley.

Negative ghostrider. Maybe in terms of being a horn-dog, but not beauty - no shot

"The Creator"
The Verhoeven movie is an all-time favorite of mine, but I also love the book and have read it multiple times. I’m very interested in a more faithful adaptation.

Prepare yourselves. It’s 100% going to be a flashy, obnoxious cringefest catered towards the Gen Z zoomer crowd like Starfleet Academy.

Michael Ironside’s character with perhaps the most underrated quote of all time at the Prom party - "Figuring things out for yourself is the only freedom anyone really has. Use that freedom.”

I mean…we’re talking about hundredths of a point difference.
A bad hair day or bloated face after a night of drinking could flip the standings.
Both are still fine AF today, but Dina Meyer has not had as much work done as Richard’s (if any).

Neil Blomkamp
Definitely going to hyper-focus on the evils of fascism and colonialism.
But Neil doesn't really miss, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
