Another good episode. It had my wife crying at the end. This is by far my favorite show right now. I am really glad they went in this direction for this show.

Episode 9 is out...
If you liked Alien/Aliens you will like this episode. Some character Arcs come to its climax and others were left open. It felt like a season finale but I believe there is one more episode.
Another very good episode. My only minor complaint would be the exterior CGI on the frozen world could have looked better but not a big deal.

When this is the biggest complaint, you KNOW it's a damned good show.

It reminded me of a cross between Alien and The Thing. Pretty good though

I used to like them. But they really hate on almost everything.

Might be my favorite episode of the season.
The Gorn are OP as all hell.

Was sorry to see Hemmer die, but unlike Tasha Yar, they gave him a meaningful death. I'm guessing this creates the potential for Montgomery Scott to come on board as Chief Engineer.
I know they are a go for Season 2, I hope they keep everyone because they have good chemistry for such a new series.

Another really good episode. A 'real' Star Trek show again. I wish they had more episodes. The days of 26 episodes per season are apparently long gone, but I will take what I can get. I don't know how this can so so much better than that absolute crap in Picard/Discovery, but it is thankfully. Someone finally listened to the fans of the older shows and delivered this gift.

Picard was so bad I love to reminisce on how bad it was

He was one of the best characters!

And look at how they are all scared shitless of it and all afraid. Captain Muther fricking Kirk fought a full grown adult Gorn in hand to hand combat...and WON!

Episode 10 Dropped...The season finale.
Fantastic Episode.
A word of advice for those that have never watch The Original Series: Watch "Balance of Terror" because it is directly connected to that episode and you will appreciate this season finale so much better.

Looks like we have closure on Pike's accident.
Good finale, looking forward to season 2.

But with any prequel, you always have characters with predestination. We know which characters cannot die on this series. During the Alien vs Predator vs Gorn episode, I was mentally ticking off who was NOT going to die. I figured the two people we'd never heard of (who had just gotten promotions) were redshirts for sure. I didn't foresee the big character death.
Come to think of it, No. 1 only appeared in The Cage/Menagerie. And that has already taken place in this timeline. So she's a candidate for the chopping block.

Seriously, I'd love for them to address why Kirk's Gorn was more of a slow moving powerhouse, and not the lightning fast stealth assassins from this series.

t the only character that really irks me is Chief Engineer Hemmer, and he's designed to be irritating.
Not sure if that intended by the writers to set up what happens, but it sure played out well
