Dungeons and Dragons.
Didn't they announce they were making a sequel? I thought it was a pretty decent sized hit.

No. It flopped at the box office. I thought it was great and don't remember anyone not liking it but it failed to make money.

Wow. I just looked it up - you were right. I guess I thought it was a decent sized hit because I saw lot of people say positive things about it.

The Last Dragon should have had a sequel called Not the Last Dragon.

Assuming you're talking about the Karl Urban movie and I agree. It's my favorite comic book movie. I can watch it over and over.

John Carter
Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote 11 different Johan Carter books, so you'd think that there would be some source material.

when the doors open it turns out Truman is actually on Times Square where he finally reunites with Sylvia as hundreds of millions cheer.
This is a prime example of why many sequels should never be made. In the movie The Truman Show they show the set as a giant dome that is literally behind the Hollywood sign

quote:Yeah, it was set up to be a big franchise... and I think the audience would have come. It was poorly marketed and people just didn't know what to expect, but by the second film it would have gotten it's footing

Just looking through my streaming film collection for ideas...
Constantine
Turbo Kid
Brotherhood of the Wolf. Can watch those 2 go anywhere in 18th century France. It would have to be a prequel)
Cool worlds to explore with their own aesthetics/style, with endless possibilities in terms of story.
Hot Fuzz
Gross Pointe Blank
These 2 are great "next day" movies to play off the "fish out of water" themes. You have a protagonist who is a loner with a unique worldview (how those 2 interplay with each other) who gives up that life/worldview over the course of the films. Watching them live in banal normalcy is hilarious to think about. You could even have Danny do the Angel role trying to convince him of a Conspiracy.
Or Martin Blank having to go to college or work a corporate job while the thrill of seeing Debi after 10 years wears off. For an introspective guy who has such a nihilistic worldview, who now has a new worldview, his frustrations with normal life and the temptations to go back work.
