True. Like I don't find Animal House funny at all but if I had been a college kid at the time I probably would love it.

I think that's more of a you understand frat culture or you don't. The ridiculousness of the frats and sororities was better than 50% of the humor in Animal House.

Caddyshack I do like but it's not one of my favorites. Mostly I find Dangerfield's shtick annoying and cringeworthy.

I think current comedians generally become dated. Somehow I never got the Billy Crystal humor on SNL, I guess I was just a little too young for that.

On that other hand (with the exception of a few skits) I was probably too old to think Will Ferrel was something new and different. Most of his SNL comedy was a sort of a viewer schadenfreude for his humiliation. I suspect people watching his skits 20 years from now will feel about him in teh same way most people today feel about the Martin/Short "wild and crazy guys" routines.

Chase improvised that scene at the piano with the shot. If you watch closely during the movie, you can see Cindy Morgan smirk for a second and almost break character only to barely recover and not ruin the scene.

I'm 24 and I'm just saying I think it's good but very, very few people my age would have it in their top 10 comedies

This is just dumb to me. I don't care if you are 15, 25, 35, 55, played golf or not or grew up with internet. Caddyshack is timeless and to say close to 0 people around age 24 would have it in their top comedies is asinine.

Now if you mean your friends your age, you need new friends.

The Belushi "hamburger" skit is one of those for me. Maybe it would be funny if I was going to places like that before I saw it on television.

they were exaggerating about the accents of the owner/operators a specific place in Chicago, so it really wasn't that everyone was going to those places to find it funny.

Al Czervik: Oh, this is the worst-looking hat I ever saw. What, when you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh?
[looks at Judge Smails, who's wearing the same hat]
Al Czervik: Oh, it looks good on you though.

Sure, it had funny moments. But I was not impressed with it being a cult classic.

This blows my mind. Dangerfield is without a doubt one of the quickest and best stand up comedians of all time.

I recently saw it for the first time(26yo) and thought it was goddamn hilarious.

My friends, also ~26, quote this movie more than any other movie ever made.

The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice."
I legitimately laughed every time a thought of this line for about 2 weeks.

I just didn't think most of his lines were funny in Caddyshack. Some made me chuckle but most didn't. I like the parts of the movie without him the best. I love Chevy Chase.
