Why is Dylan considered a bum as an outie cause he cant figure out his passion but yet he has a job at lumon?
I think the logic is that he was such a frickup that he had to take the severed job as a last resort. Then he got fired from Lumon, couldn't get a job elsewhere so wound up back there.
Until his wife started visiting him, nobody on the outside knew he actually was good at his Lumon job so now she's confused about how he can be one way in his normal life and another severed.

We got some pretty interesting info last night from them.
Burt clearly worked for Lumon before the severance program and is still working with Lumon in some regard.
I think their story will provide more of a history of Lumon.
Agree, there is some deep stuff happening with Burt and Irv is obviously on some secret mission.
Apple piling on the gay angle detracts, but it is still key. At least they got some quality actors to be nasty old gay men

This kind of represents life, let's not get too upset about it. Men and women view sex differently.

Yeah I thought the scene was dead on. Of course after he says "I thought it was you" she's gonna reply, "But it wasn't".
Like on Gilligan's Island when an imposter impersonates Mr Howell claiming he was the sole survivor rescued from wreck of the Minnow and Lovie gets pissed when they hear the impersonator on the radio talking about all the broads the he's scoring now that he's a widowed famous billionaire ex-castaway.
Doesn't matter in the moment to the woman that it's actually not the real Mr Howell.

Why is everyone driving cars from the 1970's?
The chinese restaraunt window said "since 1987".
The gala that Helly was pretending to be Helena looked like something from today, and they have iphones.
I don't understand why the present looks like both 1975 and 2025.
The after show stuff a week or two back I think covered this. I think I recall them saying it's so we wouldn't know a time period like most shows.

Mark was pretty much raped by Helena. Had the roles been reversed, that would not even be in dispute.
I don’t think anyone disputes that Helena raped Mark.
You don’t think that conversation goes differently if Mark was talking to Helena?
Also how did the show make Mark out to be the “foolish jerk”? He didn’t know how to tell Helly. Obviously Helly is going to feel betrayed, not so much by Mark, but by Helena.
Helly’s final conclusion after processing was that Helena tricked Mark and that Helly was ultimately jealous of Helena.
I don’t know how you read that entire scene the way you did.

Like others said, lots going on in this episode.
Burt working for Lumon for 20yrs
Fields likely the dentist we didn't see (can someone do a side by side of what we could?)
Milkshake punishing himself
Miss Huang is a student worker of some sort
Dylan's wife wants his innie

I'm worried we're going to get a painful cliffhanger to end this season.

For sure. And it most likely involves one of the Marks finding Gemma and what exactly is going on with her.

The scene with the mystery person looking through a box of Lumon stuff, shows a list of severed employees with some dates in it...I saw 2007 and 2008 labeled on some events that happened in the past. You'll also see Burt and Dylan on that list.

yeah... if anything Helena raped Helly.
Also... if Fields is the dentist, my bet is that he is not severed and is the reason Irving is being figured out on the outside by Lumon.

So the scene where Mark tells Helly about him having sex with Helena was a swing and a miss. Mark was pretty much raped by Helena. Had the roles been reversed, that would not even be in dispute. But the show makes Mark out to be the foolish jerk, and Helly the only victim. They could have done it so BOTH were portrayed as being wronged, but nope. Couldn't have a man be the victim in that scenario. Had to be the bad guy.
So to be clear, in a dystopian world we are worried about giving DEI blame to people having sex? Seems like small potatoes in the grand scheme of the storyline.

Yeah they made him out to be such a bad guy that she thought about it for a few minutes, came back, and said “let’s frick.”

quote:IMO the tent scene harks back to Helena watching the CCTV when Helly kissed Mark spontaneously as she's leaving right before the OTC incident. You could see her astonishment. Helena saw in Helly a freedom she's not experienced because she comes from a long line of psychopaths.
Helena trying to connect with Mark’s outie, while their innies are bumping uglies.
At first I thought Helena would keep talking about Gemma to kill the mood and stop Mark from making the move on her. When she later called innies "animals" to Natalie and Gunnar after they said they hadn't told her father what happened, she was just covering.
Something deep down in Helena is connected to Helly and their common attraction to Mark. It also occurred to me there's a chance Mark gets Helena/Helly pregnant.
I also knew immediately last night when the blurry figure entered the diner that it was Helena. And as Mark was about to take his leave, Helena seemed to be wanting him to say something, perhaps some recognition beyond his knowledge of who she is as an Eagan.
P.S. Anyone remember after Helly's first day, before we knew she was an Eagan, that Mark almost ran her over in the parking lot after their shift? Why would have outie Helena Eagan been walking through the parking lot after work as if she was going to her car?
P.P.S. I just noticed at the end of the title sequence that an infant-sized Burt crawls in front of Mark.

Well, it was pretty painful in Season 1. At least season 3 will come faster.

That is not a mystery person. It is Mr. Drummond going through Irv's recon work

The guy who plays Drummond is a beloved Icelandic actor. Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. I watched 3 seasons of an Icelandic crime show called Trapped. It was excellent.

Outie “Helly R” isn’t going to be in an almost empty parking lot alone without reason. Helena Egan most likely has a driver picking her up at the front door.
Outie Mark didn’t recognize Helena Egan in parking lot in Ep1, but recognizes and knows who she is in Chinese restaurant. So now Helena Egan knows that outie Mark knows who she is.
Lumon is a step ahead.
