I loved the part where the Little Caesars manager told them they could not record in "my store."

John B got good and wound up over the redneck manager calling it "my store" .

Oh man. I haven't got there yet. But, this stuff is good. I know some people who act just like these folks.

Lol yeah I think this thing hits home for anyone who has spent extended time in rural areas.

I listened to this podcast over the last three days.

Episodes 1-3...great
Episodes 4-5...good
Episodes 6-7...boring

Also, the podcast had a very misleading premise. It makes you believe this is about a murder and 2 episodes in, it's no longer about a murder or about the characters they spend two episodes discussing at length. It ends up just being a biographical account of one man.

I'd rank it ahead of season 2 of Serial but it doesn't come anywhere close to season 1.

it kinda stalls at the end.

That's how I felt. I thought there was going to be some big reveal that pointed the finger at a murder suspect or something like that and instead it just sort of stops.

Yeah I felt sort of conned at the end. Yeah Jon was "interesting" but this story had no idea what it wanted to be. Murder cover up and extreme small town corruption then to suicide and shady relatives coming in to strip down the assets remaining then to the feud between said relatives and friends of Jon and possible shady dealings of those involved then to a pinpoint focus on the history of Jon in school and his love life with Olen (an entire episode of it) and then it just ends.

I actually have an uncle who Jon reminded me a lot of so I have a history with these type of small town neurotic geniuses. To me it was clear he was off his damn rocker from jump but I was hoping (and those producing the show probably were as well) that something would just happen with the story. But in the end nothing did. I would not recommend this podcast to anyone.

Anybody listening to this? All the episodes showed up on my phone today.

Listened to it a couple of months ago.

Good, not great would be how I sum it up. Didn't really have that lasting power or something that makes for great conversations either with someone or in a thread like a Making a Murderer or Serial Season 1. But it's a good listen.

Only thing that bothered me was that John identified, to the ounce, the gold he was leaving behind to Tyler earlier in the series. And then there's nothing.

Loved 1st season of serial but the second one was pure crap.

Check out Up and Vanished. Covers a 15 year old cold case that ends up with new activity.

Recommended Up and Vanished to a friend last night. The host tries super hard at first to have this booming voice I felt but he settled in after that. It's well done and passes the time .

Also these small towns have so many secrets it's crazy.

We really should have a thread on Up and Vanished. It's been very good. I don't like Philip Holloway that much or his new podcast. Also, have felt multiple times throughout the episodes like Payne was getting played by certain people involved in the case. I've also never been able to shake the corruption feeling since they said BD's granddad or whoever was a politician.

So is the entire Sworn podcast going to be about those old people that were murdered? or is that just to bring the case to a big audience?

Up and vanished is great. My only complaint is that it's an episode every two weeks or so.

On podcasts like this I need them to wait and release it all at once for binging in the car. However many breaks in the case came from people listening, so I guess I will shut up.

I don't know if it's just the old people case. I don't know why, but I was under the impression there would be new cases

Anyone know of the whereabouts of that house Tyler was building? I'd love to see what Daniel was so impressed with.

It was on John B's property wasn't it? I haven't listened to it since it was released, but that's what I remember.
