I just read through them and ignore any .5 star and any 5 star review.

Who doubted it would? I thought a billion was the floor for it, honestly.

I don’t disagree. I just find it funny that a poster declared it a more valid score than RT. Without even realizing they also weigh scores.

So you don’t know what IMDB is doing to weigh their scores and you think it’s more valid?

let's be real. any movie comes with a certain amount of criticism.

RT is in the high 90s.
Metacritic is in the 50s.
IMDB is in the 80s.

Trolling aside, it's not hard to believe that this movie could be good, but not that good, i.e. very average.

Why not go all the way and claim the actual score is 7% and it’s enormous box office revenue is actually being funded by Soros?

The Metacritic user score is the only score left not affected by money/algorithms

It’s the go to score for games.

Currently it is at 51% and that lines up with the Reddit data

People forget having to wipe their screens from creaming themselves after the The Dark Knight Returns initial reaction on here and everywhere else. We had the same discussion. The level headed people realized it was retarded while the smooth brains seal-clapped. And now that movie is universally panned.

That’s probably what is happening here

Because that would be silly.

BTW, theater workers on Reddit are claiming that screenings are empty despite being sold out. Take it FWIW, as it could be trolls, obviously.

You might want to try to understand what these numbers mean before you comment.

IMDB uses a 1-10 scale, pretty easy to understand. RT for both of their scores uses a percentage of reviews that are 3.5 or higher out of 5. IMDB is more granular and RT is more of a quick is it good or is it bad.

Anecdotal, but my 11:00am showing in Destin on Saturday was packed.

And why is this particular metric being defined as a “true score”?

Alternative hypothesis: everyone who actually watches the movie uses the “push” mechanism, because it’s easiest to respond to a push notification that comes in immediately after watching the movie. Everyone who didn’t watch the movie, but who made up a fake review for the sake of pushing public opinion one direction or the other, has to go through the described “pull” mechanism, where they actively went to create a review without being prompted.

As a result, the 97% displayed on RT is an accurate reflection of the actual movie going audience… the 56% that you claim is the “true score” is actually just the trolls and bot farms leaving fake reviews without ever actually watching it.

Based on what this reddit post describes each metric to be, tell me why my hypothesis/conclusion is inferior to the one offered by the reddit poster.

My narrative? Can you fully define what my narrative is? I honestly have no idea, so please elaborate.

Again, like I asked the other user who tried this, where did I do anything to say it was valid?

The idea that the push scores are wholly invalid is certainly subjective, no?

Not invalid but any algo could be tweaked to make them weigh more or less. All this info means RT and review sites can be manipulated and should not be taken seriously, but I think most people already knew that.

Obviously, people should form their own opinions.

The only issue I see is if RT scores influence people to spend money on one movie vs another, but even that is minuscule.

I would like to hear your take on my hypothesis, please. Curious if there is a hole in it.
