Feel free to go with my post history and find where I've ever treated Reddit like "gospel".

Are you gonna really sit here and lie and say that ugly black women doesn’t play Helen of Troy?

I’m just saying that screenshot everyone is sharing isn’t even Helen of Troy. That’s a fact! Watch the movie. And in the one or two scenes Helen of Troy is actually in it’s actually remarked at how ugly she is.
It’s also insulting to call this movie anywhere close to supergirl. This is a legitimately great movie especially compared to the awful shite we normally get today.

Cool. I'll definitely base my opinion of the movie on this reddit data instead of my actual experience while watching the movie.
This reminds me of people who wait to buy a video game until their favorite YouTuber tells them if it's good or not. I can't remember the last time I've ever read a review for a movie or game.

Sources are only legit if they help the narrative. This has been proven on this board already. See Supergirl threads.

I saw it
Anyone who thinks this is Nolan’s best movie is fricking insane
Anyone who thinks it’s in the mid tier of his movies is slightly less insane
The internet is hilarious

A mid tier Nolan movie is a masterclass film.

I really enjoyed it. Was it his top? No, but it was a very good movie and, as always, several tiers above the slop released these days. It’s excellent.

quote:I don’t even get the comparison between Supergirl and The Oddysey. Supergirl has a B- cinema score, 53% RT score with an average rating of 5.6/10, a 74% audience score with an average rating of 3.9/5, letterboxd score of 3.1/5, and a 6.1/10 in IMDB. And it was a box office bomb.
When all else fails put community watch on ratings for supergirl and the odyssey.
Like the data for Supergirl show a film people consider mediocre to bad across critics and audiences alike, and The Oddysey shows a film that people consider great to excellent across critics and audience alike.
And in the case of Supergirl, the impact isn’t isolated to a single film, since it’s part of a cinematic universe where the quality of films can have a material impact on the financial returns of later films. If there was ever a film that needed manipulation, it was Supergirl, not The Oddysey.

Here is how I assume most people view RT scores:
RT scores produce general 4 scenarios that can be useful BEFORE seeing a movie:
1. The Tomatometer and the Popcornmeter are both low; that means it is a crappy movie
2. The Tomato and the Popcorn are both high; that means it is going to be a good movie, not necessarily great though due to the RT rating system
3. Tomato is low, and Popcorn is high; that indicates a fun ride, maybe a sophomoric comedy or an action movie with little grounding in reality or physics
4. Tomato is high, and Popcorn is low; this can be either a widespread critic agenda or a slow burn and/or a cerebral movie that audiences weren't expecting, often driven by bait-and-switch trailers
IMDB ratings are more granular and provide data that helps to eliminate the impact of review bombing on both ends of the ratings.

That's not even what the OP's reddit data is saying...

Because it isn’t my favorite Nolan movie so that comment doesn’t apply to me

The tomato score is not a big deal. Look at the actual rating critics are giving it. You can have a film with a 5.5 rating and that's a fresh score
While you are correct, but you are simplifying it too much.
To have a Fresh score 60% of the critics have to rate it 3.5/5 or 7/10 or higher, or a similar letter grade or subjective verbiage. So it is possible to have a Fresh designation with an average of 5.5 or even lower. The worst case is out of 10 critics 6 give it a 7 and 4 give it a 1. That produces a average of 4.6 but still certified Fresh, however the Tomato meter would show as 60%.
