I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that IMDB is mainly funded by the industry as well. Their ad revenue certainly is.

Two things can be true.
The actual scores very obviously aren't as high as the scores you see in the app.
And at least a portion of those bad reviews are people who haven't even seen it and gave it a bad review because of woke castings.
