Well, shite

I tried again and it glitched again. Signed into my prime account on the TV (it's a roku), it was fine. So my firestick is crapping out, I guess.

Yeah, about the petrova line when they go fishing (red dots everywhere), I thought about it a little. But honestly it looked so cool that I let it go... just went with the idea that he could do that from his helmet visor.

In the scene where he’s gathering the Astrophage on the spaceship and is “having a moment.”

There no doubt it would be amazing, but then the patrova line lights up all red and shiny.

What is cool is that the effect was primarily made with lenses and chicken wire with lights attached. Practical effects were one of the many things that made this movie so special.

I thought the movie glossed over some important plot points from book. But they had to condense it down into something palatable to genpop and they did it well.

They did it in a way that people who didn't read the book still enjoyed it, but I loved the book (read it twice) and I was frustrated stuff was left out. However, I fully understand they couldn't have a 4 hour movie.

I do think they could've made it 10-15 minutes longer and hit on a couple other things.

But it was a great experience in the theater.

I think Graces newfound bravery was summed up nicely by the Conmander in one of the flashback sequences.

“You just need somebody to be brave for..” or something like that.

Prior to the mission Grace was alone and had no reason to sacrifice himself. “Humanity” is a vague concept. Later, he knew his friend would die if he didn’t save him..he had somebody to be brave for.

That’s my take.

Right. It also probably didn't hurt that humans ruffied him, put him in a coma, and sent him on a suicide mission that he was adamant he did not want to do and then Rocky almost sacrificed himself to save him.

I read the book first knowing I was going to see the movie after. The books first few chapters frustrated me because they put you completely in his shoes. He goes much longer not understanding anything about his situation.

That being said, the book was great and the movie did an excellent job of sticking to the source material. Obviously, they removed a lot of the science and math, but that’s understandable. It’s a little too tedious for a movie.

I’ll be doing a rewatch soon.

Watched this last night and it took a while since it is nearly 3 hours and aside from a few tropes, I found it to be a fun film to watch.

My sequel has Grace and Rocky leading a vengeful invasion where Stratt is captured, tried, and publicly executed before the Earth is eridformed to suit the needs of the Eridians and the remaining human population is force-fed me burgers.

But that's just me knocking around inside Grace's brain.

We need to send you off to see the Wizard to get a heart. Or maybe you should watch The Grinch.

Firesticks crap out eventually when they can't keep up with the updates.

But the Prime interface also does stupid stuff sometimes. I have a Fire TV and it will go to the home screen if I leave the movie paused for a couple minutes.

its very important to unplug the power source every few weeks, let it sit, then reboot.

Close to perfection.

It was good for what it was but it wasnt the once in a lifetime great work of art people are claiming it is.. it was entertaining but formulaic and kind of corny without a whole lot of depth.

The whole relationship with the black secret service dude was so fricking corny

I want to watch it again in a few month to see what I get out of it or what I missed, but I think it's fair to say that it addressed some very human concepts of the need for friendship, companionship, and sacrifice better than the norm for mainstream SciFi.

It's not hard to understand why this is reaching an audience beyond those of us who can argue about our favorite Star Trek episodes or whatever.

Downloaded this for a flight, not much into Sci-Fi movies, but after watching this rocketed to the top of my list! You know it's a great movie when you don't want a rock to die.

Ok............I just dont see what you guys see.

I couldnt wait for it to end. Me and the wife kept looking at each asking questions since it was all over the place.

It had a couple of semi funny parts..............but honestly I hated it.
