I don't know about all that, but it is a great movie. I've said the words, "Project Hail Mary is a great movie - legit great, not just because everything is shite now. Would have been a great movie in the 90s."
For obvious reasons, it gets compared to The Martian. Is it as good as The Martian? I think so. Maybe better.

You have Malkovich (Wild Horse Nine) and Damon (The Odessey) in there, plus Cruise for Digger. None of those guys has won a non-honorary acting Oscar. The Baby Goose is swimming upstream this year.

I watched The Martian for the first time a couple of nights ago, I thought Project Hail Mary was better.

Agreed PHM was far superior to TM. F

I really liked The Martian and thought it was a solid presentation of the book. I absolutely loved PHM and thought it was also a really good presentation of the book. So for movies, I think PHM is better.
I do think The Martian is the better book, though both are really great.
