she was mad cause one of carol's rages made them all freeze which led to her grandfather dieing I think

Not seeing that as her 'antidote', to not being turned. But as a side benefit, her direct outburst to their faces sends them into a 'state', and simply being in seizure mode while flying, working, driving, etc...is what kills them off.
That's my 2 cents, at least.

The lack of questioning by main character is annoying. I’d be asking origin, what they do every day, what is their ultimate purpose? Id take every advantage of being served with studying the virus.
I’m not loving the direction the main actress is going. It’s like a child. It’s very off putting to me.
I’m assuming their “directive” is like any virus that wants to spread but since this is a collective of reasoning and knowledge, why aren’t they connected to any other extraterrestrial? Assuming this universe has aliens that sent the code, other species would have been affected.
Apple TV production is so top notch though. Hopefully it’s a slow burn and really amps up like BB.

Yeah, I’m not familiar with the source material so have no idea if these questions get addressed.
But she is acting like a spoiled Karen. This loses its luster when she has neither the power or intelligence to force the situation to her will. It’s literally her against the world and more than once The Hive(?) - is there a better name for the alien virus infected humans? - have stated they’re working on taking her over as well. And ALL the others seem cool with it, which isn’t registering with me. Well, save the one guy she tried to call.

How was the series now that more episodes have dropped? I’ve heard a few people say they are more disappointed the more that come out.

I really like it. Only seen 3 eps so far, but there's so much there to be revealed.
The 3rd was a bit of a plateau but I feel it's only setting up for bigger twists and reveals.

I’ve lost interest with each episode. If they intend to drop four seasons, this will drag so much.
Hopefully next episode introduces something instead of some other people’s perspective.

Yeah, I was listening to the ringer podcast and never saying the same thing about episode three
They said that the Premier was the best and it’s gone down since

I mean, there have only been three episodes and the first two came out as a set. The third episode slacked off but there are not really enough episodes out to show a trend. Not all episodes are going to be bangers. Some are going to set things up. Surely Gillian has fostered a little more confidence than that.

Raban is not the protagonist of the book. The part that Carol read was from the the female protagonist. Thus the mostly female readership. The Raban character was supposed to be a female.

Her spouse died in an alien invasion less than 4 days ago. The world is overrun by a hive mind. Humanity gone. The hive mind keeps using memories of her partner to try and cheer her up. I'd be popping pills, drinking, and acting like an a-hole too.

Pretty sure it's original content, not based on a book.

Yea Carol being the way she is doesn't bother me. I think the point of EP3 was to show she is just kind of a miserable person and always has been. I mean she was in one of the coolest resorts in the world, had a birds eye view of the Northern Lights, with her partner, and she was still miserable. Of course she's going to be miserable when the world is taken over by a virus.
It's the other people that bothered me more. I get that they each appear to have a family member left but did they not have any loved ones die? Why are they ok with their family members that did live being virtually smart zombies? Carol is at least questioning things and not being cool just going with the flow of an alien take over.

Funny, everyone else she met (humans) had similar experiences. They’re living in the same catastrophic global event.
But she’s special…why?
Karen energy.

I don’t mind the questioning on her part, but neither her or other people seem to be grasping what’s going on. Say what you want that it’s only been a few days, but I think they are showing extremes to both ends.

The vast majority of people on this planet are pretty dumb. So I'd assume that the remaining 12 (or 13?) folks would reflect that as well.

This thread had this series crowned as the next Lost after the first 2 eps now all of a sudden it sucks because episode 3 wasn’t exciting enough?
This series has the type of story line that is going to make people poke holes in it throughout and be very opinionated on how its situation should be handled because it’s so original. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. I’m excited to see where it goes. You really have no clue how you’d react in this situation. I kept telling my fiancé’ “why isn’t she asking about all the world’s secrets like JFK and Roswell? That’s what I’d do?”
