Might have been addressed but was his side piece murdered or commit suicide? Or were they showing Oppenheimers doubts that it was a suicide?
Also they seemed to hint that JFK got murdered by the deep state.

It was ruled suicide but was also a popular theory she was killed being a known American commie, which is why we see the hands. That’s how I took it at least

Her father maintained that it was foul play and there have been conspiracies formulated over the years that postulate her death was staged to look like a suicide as a warning to Oppenheimer. However, she did suffer from depression and violent mood swings and Oppenheimer had just told her that he couldn't see her anymore. It's a reasonable assumption that this was the straw that broke the camel's back and she committed suicide out of a sense of hopelessness.

No, I said the execution was off. In that it was a comically bad scene that felt out of place. Should have been a deleted scene

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie - it didn't seem like a 3 hour movie.
What I didn't like was the preview for the new Exorcist movie that creeped me out.

Saw it today. I liked it. Cillian Murphy crushed that role. Was the movie perfect? No. But I thought Nolan did a great job presenting many of the angles of his story in a 3 hour movie.

In at least one quick shot, you see a black gloved hand on the back of her head but then not in other shots. Think that was Nolan’s way of showing the suicide may have been legit or may have been questionable. Played both angles.

Absolute masterclass by RDJ in this one.
Hard to fathom he and Murphy not winning best supporting and best actor, respectively. Destroyed those roles

Saw it this afternoon. Thought it was an excellent technical film with a story that left me wanting to learn more on my own after watching. Visual and sound was what I expected from Nolan, yet it still seemed to exceed expectations.
I went in knowing Oppenheimer was a key member of the Manhattan Project, bout it. I don’t feel that handicapped me at all and the movie inspired me to do my own reading on subject. Thought it was a great balance of science, biopic, and drama that never felt too in the weeds, nor dull, and had my mind turning pretty well the full 3 hours.
Final 1/3 was intense and I thought did a great job of keeping you invested when it would be easy for most to check out after the payoff of the bomb. I think a lot of people went in for the bomb more than the biopic, but I feel like the last 1/3 ensured they didn’t leave only knowing the bomb.
Acting was top notch as others mentioned. I agree it seemed like basically every actor NAILED their role. I was thrown off by Josh Hartnett though as others mentioned.

Saw it today in IMAX. Outstanding film with outstanding acting. I can definitely see it raking in some Oscars. RDJ will probably get Best Supporting Actor, but I hope Murphy takes home best actor over DiCaprio in Killers of the Flower Moon (which looked good in the previews).
I want to go see it again in the next week or two.

I know the final line is what will stick with most people (and understandably so) but I thought this was the low key theme of the film.

Reflecting more on some of the many themes of the movie - we didn’t get to visually see the bomb used because Oppenheimer didn’t visually get to see it used. He was our narrator, our eyes and ears. His validation was seeing his invention work at Trinity. What should have been his ultimate moment and his triumph would’ve been seeing his invention deployed and used to affect the end of the war (and all wars, he hoped). He was denied that, not allowed to go to Washington ahead of the event and see it, and only received a cursory phone call from Groves about it.
What he did get to see was the death and destruction caused by his invention, and he couldn’t bear to look at it. The weight of knowing he did what had to be done - build a bomb before the Nazis did - and the pride he felt for having accomplished it was undercut by the reality of what it meant. He had to suffer that for the rest of his life, seeing what he started and knowing what he caused…but did he really have a choice given the alternative? He was perhaps one of the only men burdened with the knowledge, ability, and drive to accomplish it. As illustrated in the movie, it haunted him and he never seemed to find peace with the ramifications of his actions, how he took pride in them only to have that pride turn to horror, and knowing he was cast aside when he was of no more use.
The script is from the book about Oppenheimer called “American Prometheus.” As mentioned at the beginning of the movie, Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. For this, Zeus punished him by chaining him to a mountain and an eagle would come and devour his liver. Because Prometheus was immortal, his liver regenerated every day…and every night the eagle would again come and eat it. He was doomed to this punishment and suffering for eternity for giving fire to the mortals.
The movie was a sophisticated and complicated story, about complex people, with no real “right” answers. But for anybody who says they didn’t “get” the movie…I don’t know what else to tell you.

That 60 second countdown to hitting the button was as tense a movie scene as I have seen.

I've been trying to remember who introduces the British scientist that ended up being the spy. Anyone remember?

Saw it today as well. Fantastic movie start to finish. Kept me interested the entire time. Towards the end I wanted it to keep going .

I thought it was General Groves.
