Just about to post this. Aren't they called "roamers" in Alexandria? The Woodbury clan called them "biters".

Rick's crew are the only ones we've seen who called them walkers. In fact, other groups have commented on that fact before.

Early on it was "geeks"

Season one everyone had different names for them. Randall's gang had something similar. The guy in the bar said something like "walkers? that's what you call them?"

Why? We saw the "Beware the wolves" graffiti, then later we saw actual wolves (or wild dogs, at least). I don't understand why everyone thinks the W's and the wolves are related. Like I've said, I could be wrong, but I just don't see it.

I mean, suppose the W's represent wolves. What does that mean? Why would someone be marking people as wolves? Makes no sense to me.

I think it's more likely the W stands for walkers, and the "Beware the wolves" graffiti - which, to my knowledge, only made one split-second appearance in the show and hasn't been revisited since - was referring to exactly that - literal wolves.

Anyways, I guess we'll find out in 6 days!

It's been referenced 4 times: The actual wolves, the graffiti, the etched Ws and the comic book Carl picks up in the attic is titled "Wolf Fight." Could all be coincidences but not likely.

Correct. It's like the word never existed in their world.

It means the Alexandrians have a helium stash somewhere.

I'm saying, that's what I think the graffiti was referring to - actual wolves.

the etched Ws
I'm saying, I don't think that has anything to do with either the graffiti or the wolves. So I don't count that as a reference to anything (except whatever entity is responsible for the W's).

Forgot about that one.

I won't be surprised by anything at this point. And I actually kind of like the idea of a separate group of people doing these mass killings - would make for a solid enemy for next season

BTW, there are no real wolves in Virginia. I suppose they could have escaped from a zoo or something, but that is doubtful.

I'm still four pages back in this thread, but I haven't seen anyone discuss the significance of the red balloon... Rick saw it that night when Pete walked up on him and when shite hit the fan between Rick and Pete, the balloon was show again
I immediately thought of the scene in the Schindler's List with the little girl wearing the red coat. It was so dark in that scene, the red ballon really stood out. To me it symbolized some type of loss, whether it be the loss of innocence or the loss of humanity in dark and chaotic settings.

I thought it was weird that right after Pete hits Jessie in front of everyone, Rick does the same thing to Carl.

Pete hit Jessie, rick pushed Carl. Just thought I should point that out.

The town has to come under attack. They have alluded to much to there being more walkers around then there used to be. Then the "W" heads and people being around. Someone is going to try to take the town from them.

I agree. That's what the pieces lead up to. They keep showing the W,and Deanna was obstinate in her desire to not kill anyone, but release them instead. To which Rick was insistent that it was a bad idea. There are more walkers around, indicating more people. Darryl pointed out a campfire that's not far away from the town. They've put the pieces in place but did not make them super obvious until you stop to think about it.

Eta

I wonder if Deanna knew about this potential attack looking and that's why she brought the group in. She knew they needed protection from those she exiled.

The idea of zombies has never existed in zombie universes, with few exceptions.

I think wolves is the name of a group. And IMO the Ws are being carved on people before they turn.

Now that could be cool. If they both like have a posse going against each other. I'm down with that.
