at first when Tony made his last effort, I was thinking what a lousy final effort that was

A one armed Professor Hulk? I don't see it.

Tony was the only one that could get the glove off thanks to the nanotech so no problem there but

Hulk should have gotten some kind of redemption. One of my few complaints with the Russos, he was largely wasted in these last two movies. After the missiles hit that would have been the perfect time for him to go bezerk hulk once again

Whoops, I meant it should've been Hulk that stopped the snap at the last second instead of Captain Marvel.

You had Thor and Cap right before that being unable to stop him. It would've been fitting to have the originals be the last ones to fight him imo

Look I get it, he’s proven himself worthy to use it. But for me, the god of thunder should be the only one that is able to wield that thing otherwise what sets him apart?

Thor, sort of, has nothing to do with the hammer in the MCU. The hammer has a hex on it by Odin that only someone worthy can wield it. That's all.

Idk. I felt like the Hulk was fine. He was the one who snapped everyone back

think they hinted towards this in AOU ? It moved.

Oh, they absolutely did. Thor's exclamation of "I KNEW IT!" when Cap picked up the hammer was awesome.

In AOU, Cap budged it slightly, and Thor had this look on his face of "hmm" followed by relief.

Thor is pretty much acknowledging that the budge showed Cap could've picked it up, but he didn't want to show up everyone else and Thor himself.

I'm not sure why people are freaking out about it so much honestly. Cap apparently picked it up in the comics as well, but he tossed it to Thor instead of using it.

Pepper replaces Tony

No one can "replace" Tony. She wore an Iron Man suit and beat up a few bad guys. Also, Tony 100% did not want to do any of the stuff he did during this movie, and Pepper didn't want him to either. His hand was forced. She knew it. She knew he couldn't live with himself if he didn't try to help.

quote:

Valkyrie replaces Thor

Being the leader of a race of Asgardians in a little ship town doesn't "replace Thor". It just relieves him of an obligation to a little ship town on earth to go be Thor.

Sam replaces Cap

Pretty sure that's an actual comic book storyline.

I could see where people feel an agenda is being pushed.

They weren't pushing an agenda for the future. The scene where the women lined up like they were kickoff Special Teams trying to get Captain Marvel into the endzone was dumb, unrealistic, and inefficient just for the purpose of showing "look, we have badass women too!". That's fair. An agenda is a pretty strong word for what happened, but it is completely true/fair if people want to say they shoehorned in a "girl power" moment.

ETA: they should have known better. That was a Kathleen Kennedy level moment. They have strong women in the universe. You don't need to shove it in people's face during the climax of this entire phase of movies.

The part that's stupid and annoying is it actually does the exact OPPOSITE of what they want to get out of it. It makes it look like Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch etc. are big deals just because they're women, not because they're just big deals.

It doesn’t matter what people want to say. What happened in that scene is a textbook definition of a shoehorn.

They all had moments.

Hulk brought everyone back
Widow Sacrifices herself
Hawkeye hands the gauntlet, like father figure, to the next crew
Cap stands against the army alone
Tony snaps Thanos and friends out
Thor takes the most punches from Thanos

Minor gripe here - but at some point there should have been a scene when Cap and Tony fight as one against the army.

I mean, that kinda moment has been built up for 5 years. They missed the boat on that imo.

I actually wanted a scene were Groot wraps around the gauntlet and just keeps growing and extending the gauntlet out of the reach of everybody and becomes the tallest tree on earth.

The “girl power” moment was one of those rarer times the MTV board would be right when talking about pushing an agenda.

Russos and Markus and McFeely: We're going to put something in this climax for everyone! We're going to give them everything they could possibly ask for!

In IW, you had stark, strange, spidey, and the guardians give Thanos a pretty good fight, even able to actually draw blood. And that was with 4 infinity stones.
2014 thanos had no stones and it seemed like he steam rolled just about everyone in that final act. scarlet witch being the only one who gave him serious problems.

IW didn't have his armor /sword. He just wanted the stone, wasn't after them. They were just in his way.
EG he did and it was personal.
They're two different people at different stages in their lives, it's not crazy that they'd fight differently.

Yeah I get it man. It was a really dumb moment and actually kind of took me out of the film for a second it was so obviously out of place. I wasn't outraged. I didn't care that it happened other than it was a stupid piece of storytelling.

But now because of that one scene everyone is making a mountain out of a mole hill. Pepper is now Iron Man. Valkyrie is now Thor. The Guardians of the Galaxy are going to be changed into the Guardianesses of the Galaxy by the reality stone in GOTG 3.

It was stupid enough storytelling it warranted being mentioned as a stupid piece of storytelling in a great movie. It stops and ends there. They were just trying to be cute and made a dumb decision.

Exactly. Although, I haven’t seen anyone mention that it was a recreation of a similar moment from IW with Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, and Okoye. That one wasn’t so awkward and unrealistic though.
