Matt Damon is one of the few actors that I always just see as Matt Damon in movies he’s in. Terrible.

Feels like everything happened really quick with this move. I just hear about this maybe being Nolan’s next movie in October and they’re already filming??

I think the reports just lagging behind what Nolan has been cooking for a while. Oppenheimer wrapped on production in 2022 so there’s been plenty of time to develop and plan this production, the media just didn’t know what he was doing until they officially greenlit it

Nolan’s working with a level of budget and creative/production control due to his previous successes, if he had that vision then he can get it pulled together faster than probably any other director.

Damon does look hard to embrace in this if he’s going to lead in that picture

How can anyone watch Courage Under Fire and Good Will Hunting and come to that conclusion?

Do they need it? Don't get your Greek epics confused. The Odyssey begins after the end of the Trojan War. The Trojan war itself is the subject of the Iliad. Movie could start with him getting on a boat.

i'm no giant fan of Damon, the man, but he's had some fantastic roles.

I thought he handled the Martian brilliantly and GWH was great acting on Affleck, Williams, and his part.

GWH, may be my introduction to film as opposed to movies.

ETA: Nolan has far from a perfect record in movies. Plenty of head scratchers and movies that left you wanting more, but the perfection of Prestige and near perfection of Interstellar will help you forgive good or mediocre, but not great movies in Dunkirk, DKR, and Tenet.

The dude made a movie about a bunch of scientists and congressional hearings one of the most compelling movies of the 2020s and you MFers aren't thinking he can make a half-decent Greek movie?

GTFOHWTS.

The Aeneid covers the Trojan Horse and the fall of Troy. To me that’s the logical place to start since it was Odysseus’ idea. Mostly I just want to see Nolan put it on screen. He could throw a flashback of Hector vs Achilles and I wouldn’t complain.

There was a mini series adaptation with Armand Assante and Isabella Rosselini some years back that was first rate.

The only way this works with Matt Damon and Tom Holland is if Nolan is planning on setting the Odyssey story in another era. Cannot see any of these actors in ancient Greece.

You mean like as in "O, Brother Where Art Thou?" I would rather see it in ancient Greece.

Nolan is clearly going for a modern/diverse/woke adaptation. Elliot/Ellen Page is also in the film.

That's all I'll say about it.

Interesting. I had guessed it would be Zendaya as Athena and Lupita as Calypso.
