Lol.
Texas gonna get skullfricked and lose this case.
No vested interest or care in the show, but good luck proving the “has no serious, literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.”
This is not about winning a case, and it'll probably never go to trial and they know it, it's about a community's way of sending a message. It's in the headlines now, we're talking about it, job is done for them.

Woodville TX sending a message to the world.
That they'll sue people over movies they haven't seen?

This is a slippery slope. Can you imagine the outrage if Lolita came out in 2020?

and when it doesn't go to trial Netflix will be vindicated and the DA will look like an uptight puritan

Chances that jurors actually watched the entire movie? I did and don’t recall seeing any prepubescent genitalia.
The fact that you watched it is disturbing.

Netflix indicted on kiddy porn charges in Texas for airing "Cuties"
There are thousands of creepy beauty pageants and dance competitions every year in Texas that sexualize young girls. I'm sure Tyler is no exception.

alajones says child porn is only bad if there is actual nudity

So they were just trying to get more people to watch it?

Yes, in part. It bolsters their "cause" and raises their cred, which is what this is all about.
Don't think for a second that their constituency reaching out to sample the video so that they can cast judgement would come as a shock to the people filing this case.

These girls are only displaying behavior they see already by girls not much older then them. There is no “child porn” whatsoever in this movie.
ETA: Where this movie really hits home is the addictive behaviors that surround social media and damn phones. Kids (and frankly many adults) are chained to these damn things. I’ve witnessed a 12 year old clawing an SRO over a fricking phone. Girl’s self esteem is tied to likes and comments on social media.
This movie pisses people off because it’s in your face. The viewers are forced to see what current cultural mores and norms are doing to kids.

They're obviously not going to win this but it's a shot...saying, we don't like the crap you're putting out and this is not our community standars.

Exactly. This case will ultimately go nowhere. I expect it will be dropped in a few months. It's really more about sending a signal to Netflix that their agenda is on notice.
Hollywood shits on small town USA all the damn time, it's about time they started catching shite back.

Imagine what behaviors young people will display when they see adults defending kiddie porn because Hollywood told them it is art.

The ole "we'll show you how bad sexual exploitation of children is by sexually exploiting children" routine, huh?
