Ugh. The most intelligent thing I have seen or read is Ben Shapiro’s video entitled “ Cuties Movie Deconstructing the culture”. He made many positive comments about the the film and felt it made many extremely important points about the rottenness of French/ Western/Internet culture but agrees that it was exploitive in EXTREME sexualization of eleven year old children.
I am asking you to hold two ideas in your head simultaneously. A film about the innate sickness of sexualizing children can and was guilty of sexualizing children. Pretty simple.
In the context of the larger film it is obvious that the director had the best of intentions and a valuable POV about why the hyper sexualization of children is horrible. And yet she may have inadvertently done something very similar by how the film was shot and promoted by Netflix. Shots that linger on the crotch and backside of eleven years olds are pretty self- explanatory. Watch Ben’s video.

I'm not gonna watch this film but from the comments it seems Justice Stewarts comments about obscenity are spot on.
"I know it when I see it."
If people are having a natural aversion to this film than any artistic merit is out the window.
Netflix will never lose this court case but it's well within the rights of communities to rise up and say, this is not what we want.

agreed so grab your pitchfork and go protest child beauty pageants which have been a thing for decades and nobody ever gave a shite about.
Another cope. We shouldn't criticize something bad because other bad things have not been criticized (or criticized vehemently enough for you).
Also, because pageants, which arguably are exploitative to a degree, are apparently the same as young girls twerking.
Who are you people?
