The depiction of the man presented in the movie is a complete fabrication.

His reason for doing what he did is not presented at all, nor the long term success of his ideology in The Spring of Nations. In the end, he won though he wouldnt live to see it.

It wasnt about power, it was about spreading his version of the revolution as he saw it, more like classical liberalism.

He LOVED AMERICA and Washington and considered him to be a hero.

He is the father of modern nationalism. Without him, European nations such as Poland would not exist as he helped keep the light of Polish nationalism burning through his support of their people. There are other nations that owe their existence to him as well.

What a disgrace of a movie.

He wasnt a sniveling cuck. He was a thug, yes, but maybe the most competent person in the history of mankind.

frick this movie. You can tell its written by british revisionists, mixed with American Leftist garbage.

Damn I liked it. And i didn’t really think it painted him in an unflattering light. Just kind of raw.

I didn’t think less of him after seeing this movie and I know little about Napoleon.

Pretty much every historical record indicates his relationship with Josephine was truely fricked up. They started dating really early in his career and he was pretty bad with women, Hse was a ho. but he also had like 20 mistresses and eventually divorced her.

he was also the greatest general of a generation and it’s extremely undersold how influential he was. he’s also painted as some megalomaniacs dictator while literally every nation he fought had their own kind and most were pretty autocratic without Napoleon’s meritocracy.

He also only started like 2/7 of the wars of coalition and if england ever wanted peace they probably could have had it and Napoleon would have probably not kept going to war.

He emancipated jews and tried to re-enslave black in Haiti.

Bill and Ted gave Napoleon the most historically accurate portrayal to date, in my opinion.

Same goes for Genghis Khan.

Absolutely. He was a biggy piggy who loved ice cream and water slides.

Wait, is that not in the movie?!

Washington considered him a "hero"? GW died in Dec 1799. A few weeks after Napolean staged his coup.
There is nothing written where Washington said he was a hero.
Napoleon thought Washington was a revolutionary, because he stood up to the British Empire, but Napolean wanted European domination. He conquered many countries to expand his empire.
Washington conquered the British to claim America. Washington didn't attack other countries to expand the American "empire"

Don't get it twisted. Although by your post maybe Napolean is some kind of hero to the far right...?

He also lost. Just like the others who tried to conquer Europe.

I hope that quote is inaccurate. The "were you there?" argument is below the intellectual capacity of a freshman in high school. With that perspective there's not only no such thing as history there's not even current information about the present.

Sir Ridley Scott is 85 years old and has been making historically inaccurate films about real figures for decades. At this point, he’s probably just tired of people not realizing it’s a feature, not a bug.

I love when the Poli board takes over other boards. It’s so much fun when someone doesn’t discuss movies/tv unless they’re triggered. Yes, I check poster history often.
