Die Hard
It's about as pure an action movie as you can get. It has a great hero, a great villain with actual personality, great sidekick, great set pieces, it moves fast and doesn't overstay it's welcome. The humor is spot on and while not being jarring.
It's a very clear man vs. man battle with a tight plot.
