movie that may not be well known but you beleive everyone should see it

mine is" the burbs " with tom hanks...its my favorite movie of all time,probably.
Im not sure everyone has seen it ,im not surd how popular it was when it was released around 1990.
if anyone knows of a similar movie, let me know.

Honestly, Tom Hanks' earlier career is probably filled with movies that the younger generation never saw when he was doing mostly comedies.

Interestingly enough he was in a bomb (Joe vs the Volcano) and then did Bonfire of the Vanities... that pretty led to him doing more serious or romantic movies (A League of Their Own, Sleepless in Seattle, Apollo 13, Philadelphia, and Forrest Gump all came right after Volcano)
I'd recommend folks watch those earlier comedies, especially The Money Pit.

The Castle
It's an Australian comedy about a guy who has to defend his home (and neighbors' homes) from an eminent domain claim and takes it to the High Court of Australia. It sounds boring but the characters in it are as funny as hell.
Another Australian movie that I like is The Dish with the late, great Sam Neill. It's a comedy/drama about the role of the Parkes radio telescope in the Apollo 11 mission, and it is just a really good movie. Great soundtrack, too.

For the new crop of movie board folks, I'll say eXistenz. It's a little cheesy, but a lot of fun.
I'll stick with sci-fi and say Strange Days as well. It's a mess, but I enjoy it.

Maybe from young kids today, but that was a pretty popular movie back in the day and is one of the best "early comedy" movies in his career. I rewatched it a couple years ago and it still holds up pretty well.
And my answer for this thread is always the same:
- Cadence (1990)
Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, Larry Fishburne (yup). Charlie is a white dude in an all black military prison barrack. fricking excellent movie.
- Another one I'll throw in just because it is so awesome, but people don't know it is because it has the dumbest name ever: Lucky Number Slevin ( 2021 thread ) It's best if I don't explain anything about it, but it has Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Ben Kingsley, and Morgan Freeman and is a weird plot, but awesome.
- Another one just popped into my head: The Last Castle. Robert Redford is a former general in a prison run by James Gandolfini.

Both of those are great movies. The scene in The Dish where they played the National Anthem was extremely funny. Sam Neill was a great actor.

In Bruges - very dry humor and dark humor. I find it absolutely hilarious. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are great together.
The Verdict - Paul Newman. Maybe more well-known to some but most of my friends and younger people have never seen it. Fantastic movie.
