Parents need to know that Bone Tomahawk is an unusual Western with some gruesome parts. The brutal, gory violence includes slicing, digging into wounds, severed limbs and body parts, shooting with guns and arrows, dead bodies, and other grisly things.

Not a movie but the "Vikings" series had some, especially the blood eagle thing they did to Jarl Borg.

That "Irreversible" fire extinguisher scene is especially horrific.

Jarl Borg took his death like a boss.

Sacrifice scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Horrified me as a kid when they took the guys heart out then strapped him to that thing and lowered him in that pit as he was still alive and screaming.

The beginning of The Descent when the main characters family get impaled from the poles coming off of that truck.

Every time I’m behind a truck with poles or wooden beams tied on the back I think about that scene and I change lanes

Leo’s death in the Departed was jarring and totally unexpected.

The knife fight death of the Jewish soldier in Saving Private Ryan was horrifying and one of several death scenes in that movie I could never watch again.

Not a freak out but hard to watch-The Grey-almost every death, but especially the scene where the guy falls out of the tree and hallucinates his daughter saying “I love you, Daddy.” My daughter was around 8 at the time and I lost it watching that.

Beginning of Zoolander when they’re having a gasoline fight and they catch on fire and all of Derek’s friends die.

That's a messed up scene. It completely ruined the song "Jitterbug" for me. I can't hear it without smelling burned flesh in my mind.

The scene in Star Trek: Into Darkness where some crew members get sucked out of the Enterprise while in warp
While discussing Star Trek-

There was an episode in TNG where Data was stuck somewhere with a couple of aliens.
I don't remember all the details, I know some Trekkies can fill it in... but the mad scientist shoots his scared female helper with a Ferengi disrupter or something like that. She disintegrates- slowly.

Also on Star Trek, from the first movie I think, the random transporter death early on.

These weren't the worst things I've seen, but they came from stuff I didn't expect
