vaporizing
Oh, you reminded me of all the ray gun deaths in Mars Attacks!.

I was 8 when it came out and saw it in theaters with my dad. The movie itself didn't scare me, I actually enjoyed it, but I had nightmares about people being vaporized into red and green skeletons every night for a few weeks after. It got to a point where I was afraid to go to sleep because I knew what awaiting me each night.

That robocop scene is brutal, especially when I watched it as a kid. Such a great movie though.

Yeah this one. I did a rewatch of this the other day and it’s disturbing

Also Murphy’s death in the original Robocop

The operation scene from spiderman 2 is still in my brain and its been, what, almost 20 years? That doctor screaming as she was getting pulled into the dark and nail marks on the ground as she was getting pulled still haunts me to this day

Two scenes for me...both the anticipation...

Russian Roulette in the Deer Hunter

Willem Defoe in Platoon...just knowing that it is over..

...

and from my youth..the ole Kevin Bacon gets impaled in Friday the 13th...nothing fancy...just remember it so well

The scene in Star Trek: Into Darkness where some crew members get sucked out of the Enterprise while in warp. I hate the movie not because of that scene, but it felt sort of tastless for a Star Trek movie.

The stepdad in 2012 getting crushed and torn by grinding gears. Pretty sure the character in no way deserved that.

This one doesn’t get mentioned much, but was definitely unexpected and a “holy shite” moment. Poor guy was just trying to help his family to safety, then gets crushed to death by giant metal gears.

Solid death, such a disappointment of a movie. I remember being really excited to see it

While technically not a death, since she gets revived 15 minutes later or so, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio drowning in The Abyss. The fact that she has to talk Ed Harris into allowing her to drown spelling it out logically, and then once she has the fear wells up in her knowing that even though it was the right call, she still has to actually drown. Right before she goes under she yelps, I'm scared," and you'd swear it was really the actress saying it. I've NEVER watched that movie and not found myself leaning my head upwards in some vain attempt to "help" her get one last breath.

The death happens off screen so it might not technically qualify as a death scene, but the nurse station scene in the Exorcist III deserves a mention. It scared the living hell out of me when I was younger, and it still freaks me out to this day.

I use that phrase around Christmas when my wife has bought a gift for some spoiled arse brat, "It's all for you!" No one ever gets the reference.

The chestburster scene in Alien. The way it turns from a casual dinner conversation to complete horror in a matter of seconds without any music is chilling to me, no matter how many times I've seen it. The way John Hurt sells it, even with the little twitch in his hand at the end, makes it all the more believable.

Also, Arbogast's death in Psycho. The overhead shot of "Mother" emerging from her bedroom at the top of the stairs always gives me chills.

7 years old on a Saturday Night my dad was watching Creepshow. Scene where the monster pops out of a crate and eats the janitor. Ran into my room and hid under the covers while my dad laughed at me. Great fricking movie.
