I'll admit I put Ratched in the category of villain like Landa who I never voted for. Of course she's evil and a great villain, but it's hard to "hate" her in a sense, because if you remove her the movie doesn't work.
I'd argue Commodus while largely horrible, the movie would have worked with a variety if villains. He isn't THAT important to the film. He's sort of inconsequential. You can write that entire film with just a normal bad king.
But man is he annoying. Tavington too.
Ratched, Landa essential. There's a big grey area here, I get it. Not a perfect science.
