So he can climb up on a roof in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood to fix a TV antenna and take off his shirt and not look like me.

It's a good movie and good book, but I will always enjoy how shitty their draft was that year, and how the book at least downplays the fact they had 3 CY Young quality pitchers.

This is much more than a movie about baseball, although it helps if you know the game. As a divorced Dad with a daughter, the final scene when he is listening to his daughter's song, chokes me up every time.

Entertaining movie for Hollywood, but not so much for baseball. I kept asking myself the entire movie if they were going to ignore the elite pitching staff when portraying this team as a bunch of misfits….yeah
Not to mention AL MVP Tejada at short and Chavez at 3rd.

What a clown book and movie.

I was a party animal alcoholic back in 2011 when the movie came out. Meaning I didn’t watch shite on tv or the movies during that time span. Tagged a lot of fine arse though back in those days which was a lot more important to me then watching movies

Honestly you need the metrics and the eye test with player recruitment.

I'll bet several investors wish they would've applied this logic when evaluating FTX.

The cost to make the movie was more expensive than the A’s payroll that year.

Once I found out that Art Howe wasn't really as fat as Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Art Howe was upset that they had him portrayed by a fat Philip Seymour Hoffman...

Well, that… and the fact that he wasn’t opposed to the concept like the movie makes him out to be.

Yeah the movie needed drama, it would have kind of sucked without that element.

But Howe was not opposed to it at all

Haven't seen this in a while, but I thought he was supposed to be dipping, or looking like he was dipping.

idk, it's become a cliche for Brad Pitt to be snacking on something while he's talking.

Not going look to confirm, but my first thought is that it is common in baseball to eat sunflower seeds and spit out the husks. Not so much now that eating is banned on artificial field surfaces.

So true. When I was in the middle of a NASTY custody case for my kids Moneyball was the mantra. Let them make all the mistakes, they are just giving it to you.

I won, my kids won.

Love this film.

I will never not find it hilarious that Chris Pratt was playing Scott fricking Hatteberg during his Andy Dwyer days.

I really hope this convo between David Justice & Hatty took place:

quote:

David Justice:
Scotty H.

Scott Hatteberg:
Yo, what's up, D.J.?

David Justice:
Pickin' machine.

[Scott laughs]

David Justice:
How you likin' first base, man?

Scott Hatteberg:
It's, uh... it's coming along. Picking it up. You know, tough transition, but I'm starting to feel better with it.

David Justice:
Yeah?

Scott Hatteberg:
Yeah.

David Justice:
What's your biggest fear?

Scott Hatteberg:
A baseball being hit in my general direction

[Hatteberg and Justice share a laugh]

David Justice:
That's funny. Seriously, what is it?

Scott Hatteberg:
No, seriously, that is.

[uncomfortable pause; Hatteberg leaves]

David Justice:
Well, hey, good luck with that.
