Yes please see it through to the end. A lot of us will be able to relate.

It was good.
Unexpected gut punch at the end.

We watched it last night and I was surprised that it was definitely a quality movie, seeing as I didn’t see any advertisement for it.

He was in saving Silverman and a number of other things.
He’s also the dad in diary of a wimpy kid. Recently was on white lotus

No. I think it was Matthew McConaughey’s sidekick from Sahara though.
You're both wrong...it is Phoebe's husband from Friends.

I was bored and ready to turn it off until the end. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a movie go from highly mediocre to actually a really nice story in such a small amount of time.
It’s too blandly derivative to be an every year classic, but I’m not unhappy I watched it.

Thanks for this!!! Brings me back to my childhood. Definitely gonna watch this.
And it all comes back...because my son really wants a PS5...but none are to be had.

Thanks to a poster on the game board, he helped my son have a great birthday last month. I was born in 1987 but I do remember always playing my older cousin’s Nintendo in the early/mid 90s. Even though I had a sega genesis I still loved playing the NES.

Watched this last night and enjoyed it. It’s funny how the movie is kind of self aware that it is a ripoff of A Christmas story, but not quite.
Loved the ending. Good performance and role for NPH too.

Watched it with my kids and enjoyed it. It was pretty much a modernized version of A Christmas Story replacing the BB gun with a Nintendo.

Couple of questions.
Does it ever go into the Santa is real/not real territory?
Any lgb stuff?
Appropriate for a 7 year old? Considering watching it with my nephew and just want to be careful I don't get into trouble.

My first grade teacher told us that Santa wasn’t real and that we have to be good because our parents are the ones who buy us our gifts. I remembering thinking has long as I get what I want I’m good lol

No to both questions.
Perfect for a 7 year old.

Anyone else remember the PowerPad for Track and Field?
Thanks for this thread. Added to watch list but going to wait until it’s closer to Christmas

Not to be a fuddy duddy, I mean the show looks ok but those kids are definitely not like kids were in the 80's.
Looks fun but why does every retro movie have people rollerskating?
People weren't going to Roller Rinks (if they even still existed) in 1988. Unless you were in Des Moines and just got a Taco Bell.
The trailer makes it look like the early 80s never happened and they went straight from 70s disco to late 80s Nintendo.

I just finished this movie, and it was absolutely terrific. It was funny, it felt very much of the time that it was trying to portray, and when Steve Zahn can play kind of a frustrated buffoon, he is absolutely in the zone. And man, it made that hard left turn in the last 10 minutes from kind of turning into a goofy heartwarming comedy to hit you right in the feels
