I didn’t grow up in the 80s but early/mid 90s roller skating was so much fun. Almost all my classmates birthday parties were at the skating rinks on Florida Blvd lol.

I thought it was great. The most accurate part was how much the Power Glove SUCKED.

My GF was born in 1988. She grew up with SNES but knew about the NES and all. She had never heard of the Power Glove.

When they first brought it up in the movie I yelled "Oh that MFER SUCKED!"

and the movie did that part justice.

Just watched this movie with the family. Thought it was great, busted out laughing several times. That ending, what a gut punch, my wife was in tears. They could have gone without doing that but it did make the movie much more impactful and it really drove the point of the movie home. My kids got the message clearly so gift opening this year should go well.

wanted a SNES back in the early 90s, i saw a box that was the right size and was ready to go Christmas morning. freaking Sega Genesis. i loved the thing, but sonic was no mario/zelda.

This was definitely me. Ended up getting a Sega with a bunch of bargain bin games to go with it one Christmas lol. Ecco The Dolphin, a Caesars Palace casino game, etc. I had more control over what games I got moving forward but that first batch was god awful yet I still had a great time

So glad we saved this for Christmas Eve.

What a perfect watch for an old 80s kid like myself. This was my childhood

And the ending hit close to home as well. Definitely adding this to the yearly Christmas watch list.

The retainer scene was absolute gold

Thanks OP for recommending

Can I get an Eternal Champions shoutout? Such knock off from MK and SF2. It was great. Don’t get me wrong but it wasn’t a SNES.

Watching it again with my in-laws and smiling the whole time. It’s definitely a new classic for kids of the 80s.

Is the dad the same guy from Saving Silverman?

No. I think it was Matthew McConaughey’s sidekick from Sahara though.

You're both wrong...it is Phoebe's husband from Friends.

No, he's the guy from Joyride.

Looks fun but why does every retro movie have people rollerskating?

Maybe your non-social self wasnt but all the cool kids were at the skating rink well into the 90s. I’d say it official went lame at the turn of the century.
