Margot Robbie Was Only Cast As Barbie After Amy Schumer Quit The Role
So Robbie took the role once it had a different writer, director, and was a totally different movie?
Not sure why an abandoned movie idea that was jettisoned 3 full years before the current team took on their jobs is interesting or noteworthy.

Because the people running movie studios are vapid morons.

That’s called Jewish money.

The noteworthy part is that an Amy Schumer Barbie movie was conceived

This is a great example of virtue signaling eating itself. The only reason she probably was cast and brought in to help write was to show an "every woman" could be Barbie.
And regardless of who Barbie would have been, they would have still gone w a ripped good looking guy for Ken to keep true to the character.

Amy is misremembering…they tried to cast her as Barba, not Barbie

This.
The fact that Amy Schumer was ever considered for the lead role in a Barbie movie is the story here. As a guy, I never played with Barbie dolls but I had a baby sister (no pics) who did. I don't ever remember seeing her playing with an overweight and unattractive-looking Barbie doll.

But neither you nor your sister will ever have deal with the traumatic experience seeing Schumer play Barbie, as it clearly never got past the initial stages of development. They considered doing a thing, and then they stopped considering it.

I'm guessing Amy wanted to play Barbie as a fat drunken slut. That's Amy Schumer's entire act

I think Amy is confused. She was originally cast as Babar in a movie about the elephant and she mistakenly thought it was Barbie.

The real draw was Ryan gosling as ken
The moms are desperately rounding up their daughters to go see hot ken doll

You’re a clown. You’re saying very executive involved in that decision left?

It was being developed at an entirely different studio by an entirely different creative team.
Googling is pretty easy, idiot.

Amy Schumer Reveals How She Felt After Seeing ‘Barbie’ Movie
The comedian was tapped to star as the titular doll in a live-action movie then set up at Sony in 2016, with Schumer and her sister and frequent writing partner Kim Caramele taking a pass at the script.
That film was described as a fish-out-of-water story about a woman kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough.
Schumer dropped out of the project four months later, citing scheduling conflicts, before Anne Hathaway took on the role of Barbie and then Margot Robbie’s production company Lucky Chap (successfully) convinced Warner Bros. to take on the film, which is now in theaters, starring Robbie and directed by Greta Gerwig, who co-wrote the script with partner Noah Baumbach.

The Barbie movie wasn’t intended as a screen adaptation of the Barbie IP as the Mario Bros movie was, which is to say a true to character and personality representation.
It was intended as a “reimagined for a modern audience” takedown as we’ve seen with so many other IPs. Thus who better to destroy preconceptions about Barbie than Amy Schumer who would basically play herself in pink?
I think it was realized that that was going to be too much to sell so they did what they did with the Witcher which is to hire leads who were perfect visually then change everything around them to be a more subtle deconstruction that would still attract viewers.
