4 episodes in on Season Two. Like the pacing a bit more than Season One. Story is still all over the place but I'm enjoying it.

Did the man in the high castle ever say where the films came from?

No, but on top of the Tagomi reveal at the end of S1, S2 introduces one more person that can travel between dimensions. Neither of them is the source of the mass number of films, though.

CONTINUED SPOILER DISCUSSION

Well, Tagomi brought back the footage of the hydrogen bomb test from 1962 that Smith used to fool the Nazis into believing that the Japanese had a more powerful weapon than they did to avoid war.

Makes me think that TMITHC and some of his operatives are also able to travel to other timelines and retrieve films/footage to bring back.

It wouldn't surprise me if TMITHC spends most of his time in other timelines doing research and bringing back films - that's why the Japanese and the Nazis have such a hard time locating him.

I really enjoyed season 2. It's definitely a slow burn, but it really hits its stride in the back half of the season. I can't wait to see where it goes.

And yes, I thought the main characters did a much better job this season.

***MOAR MAJOR SPOILERS****

If TMITHC could travel between dimensions, then he wouldn't need people to bring him the films. Only exception I can think of would be if people are limited to two dimensions, the main one and one other. Hopefully there's more of him in S3, both because he's an interesting character and Stephen Root is a really good actor. I know I bring up acting ability more than I should, but Juliana/Frank/Joe are SUCH a bad trio, I'm happy to get some competency. I was thrilled when Frank died, but the shitty sister reveal makes me tentative.

And it took me a while to figure out why Lemmy showing up at Tagomi's place with the movies was a big deal, but I think I got it: Tagomi didn't tell anyone the nature of the film, yet Lemmi showing up implies that TMITHC knows the whole story. Either because he has connections that told him the war stopped because of the film and he put two and two together (knowing that it never happened in the main dimension), or he somehow simply knows that Tagomi can travel between dimensions.

***END SPERLERS***

I would start a spoiler thread instead of the constant spoiler warnings, but I don't think the show has enough interest to get much attention. Really hope it gets one more season, or at least an hour and a half wrapup movie.

just finished season two.

*****Spoilers *****

Good ending. Surprised the kid allowed him self to go to extermination now that his dad is a favorite of the new Fuhrer.

Joe Blake will be executed most likely, unless Smith gets him out.

The flashback to the DC nuke had me thinking. How was Smith made the highest Nazi in the land, when it was obvious he was high ranking US military?

Did he turn coat? Bring US Army to Nazi cause? Orchestrate a surrender?

So many questions. I want to know what went on in the 50's in that timeline.

Also the Nazi plan to take out japan was terrifying. "We launch 21 nukes, then invade" Though expected casualties still less than WW2?

I think the kid was too brainwashed into the Nazi ideology. He viewed himself as worthless and defective.

I guess in a way he converted for the sake of his family. The Nazis probably wanted an American with military and leadership experience, and as long as he pledged allegiance to them he was good. Also maybe the average American would be more likely to listen to another American rather than a foreign power.

The thing I find most interesting about the show is the world they live in. I doubt we will get to see much of it but it would be know more.

Lots of good questions, and that's what worries me about the show. It's not getting much talk here, and it's the type of show that TD should eat up.

It's not a GREAT show, but it's good enough, and I'm fascinated by the world that they live in. Hope they do at least one more season, and that the writers know how long they have to wrap it up.

*SPERLERS*
As for Smith's kid, his turning himself in wasn't a shock to me. He was obviously all in on the cause, and was typically shocked whenever his father let him break the norm (studying at the table in S1, skipping school in S2). Papa Smith killing him on the fishing trip would have been the best thing for everyone.

I just wrapped up Season Two. Smart, edgy and occasionally gut-wrenching. Episodes 5-10 were a real roller coaster. Well done, bring on Season Three...

This and while he seemed to be wavering a bit on his commitment to the Nazi Ideology seeing his father on TV, being praised by the new Fuhrer, steeled his nerve.

I'll be watching season 2 soon, wanted to finish Travelers first. This season of high castle looks promising.

Think of the Nazi kids fighting in Berlin at the end of real life WWII. The Nazi world is all they knew, so it makes sense in the show...especially after seeing his dad on tv.

Despite so many people having Prime and FireTVs, I think there's a small number that actually use it for video. Most people on this board seem to see Fire as Kodi device rather than a Prime device. I'm not even sure what I would say the most discussed Amazon Prime original on here is, the shows so rarely get brought up.

*SPOILERS*

You're totally right to highlight the acting. Season 2 is better than Season 1 because they shifted focus to the better actors. Obergruppenführer Smith, Trade Minister Tagomi and Inspector Kido are all great. Joe and Frank are just so bad. Juliana was much better on her own navigating the Reich and avoiding the resistance than being in a love triangle with Joe and Frank.

I'm really not sure what the major story arc for season 3 will be though. From the beginning Trade Minister Tagomi has been working to balance the power and avoid war. That mission appears to have been accomplished. Obviously there is more work to do if TMITHC sent Tagomi films to look at, I'm just not sure what the focus would be. I'm worried we'll get a big dose of a Joe/Julianna love story.

For now. Smith is a hero and Joe's mentor. Joe indirectly helped take down his father and only met him a few days ago. I think Smith will be able to save him, especially since he just lost a son and viewed Joe a bit as a son.
