But it doesn't matter that he wasn't knighted, maybe Arlan was going to knight him at some point anyway but it doesn't matter. He's a knight now whether Arlan knighted him or not.
It doesn’t matter from the perspective of other people, but it matters internally because it’s part of who Dunk is. He carries the weight of the lie with him.

George R.R. Martin has indicated that the ending of his A Song of Ice and Fire book series will differ significantly from the Game of Thrones television finale, promising a "bittersweet" conclusion that explores different character arcs. While key, broad-stroke outcomes—such as who sits on the throne—may remain similar, the journey, character fates, and thematic depth will diverge due to the books' greater complexity and, in some cases, darker, less forgiving storylines.
And fwiw, I was fine with Bran being king on the show. It's how he got there that was botched.

Late to the chat but the last episode was the best one yet. Fantastic build up and the end scene was very badass.
On one hand I'm glad the episodes are short because you are sticking to the source and everyone seems to be complaining about it so I'm trying not to, but man that episode was too short. I definitely wanted more.
Sir Arlans dong is longer than these episodes.

He has maintained that he will finish, though it seems unlikely.
His newest interview he pretty much all but confirmed he has stopped writing WoW and doesn't seem to have a desire to pick it back up. First time he has said he is going to finish more Dunk and Egg and Fire and Blood before he picks back up WoW. He has always said he wasn't writing more of those until ASOIAF is finished.

Anyway, I already said it was unlikely, but he's never actually said he wasn't going to finish it. If you asked him right now, he'd deny that he's given up on it.
I'm not sure what if anything we'll ever get again, but as I've said, I'm more a fan of the world than anything else.

I'm curious to see how they depict Maekar delivering what proves to be the killing blow on Baelor.

On top of this, I think that Dunk was probably hesitant to “knight” Raymun because if Dunk was not really knighted by Ser Arlan, then he couldn’t “knight” Raymun and he didn’t want to be responsible for Raymun believing that he was a “real” knight when he wasn’t really.

That makes sense, but I maybe took it to literally in the vein that he couldn’t knight him because he didn’t know the words because he had never heard them to know them.

I think it’s both, in the first episode he says he doesn’t really know the words for burial which would align with knighting words, plus I agree that he didn’t want to make a false knight

This is how I took it, he just didn't know the words because he's never heard them. But not wanting to be a false knight that couldn't really knight another makes sense as well given his nature.

The show runner actually apologized for cutting the scene of the small folk cheering Dunk on and the conversation with Steely Pate about honor. I respect the hell out of that for being honest and acknowledging that he made a mistake. Something a certain someone could learn from.

I'm disappointed that I didn't get to see Egg pour wine on Lyonel's head when he was trying to get him to fight for Dunk.

Little Egg let a major spoiler slip during an interview. Apparently GRRM shared some new details about Summerhall with the actors. Are we allowed to discuss that here or should I post in the crackpot thread on the book board?

Feel free to post it here. It's a Maester's thread so the assumption is if you're actively posting here relevant content has been read.

He said that Dunk survives Summerhall. Here is my crackpot theory.
I think Duncan ends up with Leaf in some way. I think he's already had multiple children with her, when she was posing as Old Nan (the vision of her kissing a tall man) and - Lady Rohanne Webber, who is described as being very short and whose 'mysterious' disappearance in 230 comes right before Jenny of Oldstones and TGOHH appear (238). If the Ghost of High Heart (also Leaf) survives Summerhall with Dunk, perhaps she then reveals herself to him and takes him somewhere to live out his life.
If Dunk is one of the people who is happy that Egg dies, maybe it's because he had to kill Egg to stop him from doing something horrible, possibly sacrificing Rhaegar. That would explain why he'd disappear rather than continue his lifelong duty with the KG.

We need to get Egg to start asking questions about TWOW.
He also hinted that Henry Cavill is involved in season 2, but it wasn’t as clear a reveal.

So…some think Old Nan was Dunk’s paramour who bore him a child or two? Huh.

Nan is Hodor's great grandmother. That's confirmed. In one of Bran's visions, he sees a very young Nan kissing a very tall knight, heavily implying the affair with Ser Duncan.
Leaf tells Bran that she walked the world of men for 200 years in disguise, waiting for him to be born. She also says she's the only one of her kind that knows the common tongue. Therefore, any person we think might secretly have been a CotF has to be Leaf. Old Nan and The Ghost of High Heart aren't confirmed but I'd bet a lot on them being Leaf.
And my personal theory is that Rohanne Webber was also Leaf which yes, means all of the main Lannisters are descended from her.

Wow! I never really delved into the lore like that. Time to revisit the main books.
Thanks!
Thanks!
